More Terry less Fami please.
but... but... when the guy said "get away from her you.....bbbbitch" you didnt shit your pants and do the DiCaprio whistle-point, which would make it amazing!??Alien Romulus- Whoo boy… what a mess. While I had some faith in Fede Alvarez I knew this wasn’t going to be anything amazing but I was at least hoping for a competent horror movie, we didn’t even get that though. I don’t know how much of that is studio interference or if the initial script was already pretty terrible.
I’ll start with the positives. The guy that played the android companion was excellent, I hope this role at least gets him noticed for future work. The set design and attention to detail is really nice, you can tell they really put a lot of effort into it. They nailed the retro-future aesthetic without it coming off as try hard or a cheap imitation. I’ll also say that the lead actress wasn’t bad but was horribly miscast. That’s about it though.
The lead looks like she’s about 14 and when they try to make her look badass and call back to Sigourney Weaver it just does not work. The rest of the cast (aside from Andy) were just generic nobodies with zero presence. Also stop putting pregnant women in everything, it’s lazy and cheap writing. Especially in this when as soon as she says she’s pregnant you know exactly what’s going to happen.
Even though the sets were great it’s a very ugly and often awkward looking movie.
It’s very set piece oriented and not in a good way. Like they were all written without any consideration for the rest of the movie. Like Somebody said “what about alien acid blood but in zero gravity?”. Then somebody said “what about a whole room full of face huggers they have to get through?”. Fuck yeah bro.
I don’t even want to get into the Alien mythology and biology. There’s just so much wrong with it and so much of it is not only unnecessary but dumb af.
Then there’s all the cheap call backs that feel like studio mandates and everything with the CGI Ian Holm. Ugh.
There’s about a third of a good movie there but this really feels like it’s Frankenstiened together from several different scripts with studio meddling on top of all that.
Especially in this when as soon as she says she’s pregnant you know exactly what’s going to happen.
Albert Pyun certainly made some entertaining movies, but nothing I would describe as above B-movie grade. Nemesis and Cyborg are worth watching, would be interesting to know what they'd be like if either had an actual budget. Can't say as any of his other stuff interests me... always struck me as a bit of a hack.
Nope, heard of it though. Is it another action film involving cyborgs?Have you checked out Dangerously Close?

American Ninja 2 - Michael Dudikoff and Steve James return, this time to investigate the disappearance of US marines on a Caribbean island where the military has a small posting.
If you saw the first film and thought its premise was preposterous, you ain't seen nothing yet. For some reason Cannon decided to lean into Sci-Fi for the sequel, and it's just fucking daft as fuck. The good news is it's still entertaining with some good fight scenes, and Steve James gets more screen time kicking ass in this outing, and the bulk of the dialogue. Again, Dudikoff has hardly anything to say, but has no problem dispatching hoards of evil ninjas.
If I have any criticism, it's that, again, there is no bloodletting. Bad guys get carved up like sushi, but no blood. It's like they had no budget for squibs. It just feels like I'm watching a slightly more violent episode of the A-Team.
The funny thing here, is that you could draw a number of comparisons with Street Fighter: The Movie from the plot, yet this was made long before Street Fighter II was a thing.
Worth watching, but not as good as the original.
I watched Gladiator 2 and liked it well enough.
I wasn't anticipating a masterpiece or anything, and it's not as good as the original of course, although I had fun with it.
I'd say check it out if you feel like watching something with an Ancient Rome flavor.

That's so goofy I love it!When I went snd saw the new Gundam film at Regal this week they were clearing out their promo items. I asked for a small soda and without even asking they gave me this monstrosity from Gladiator 2. I ended up getting the soda four dollars cheaper but I didnt want this lol.

I just wish we still had thick paper tickets instead of these thermal printed receipts.Honestly, that kind of silly, stupid stuff is why I still love going to the movie theater to see something.
Seeing a fun, dumb movie with all the stupid, superflous stuff like D-box seats and 3D Glasses and crappy, ridiculous plastic souvenirs just makes the outing so much more fun and memorable for me.
Ghosts of Mars is better than half of Scott's output at this point. You liked Gladiator 2, that already makes your judgment suspect.I dunno. Ghosts of Mars was worse than any of the crummy Scott movies I've seen.
