Watched Terminator 2 a week ago, the super extended version. It's very long, but o so amazing.

Nothing has changed since the early 90s.

Love me if you Dare

French flick. Love drama

bring a woman for instant score afterwards.

it's like Romeo and Juliet meets Great Expectations. I enjoyed it as a random movie someone told me to watch. I would recommend, but it is only subbed. It's twisted and fun.

(Finallly, here's a protip from me: referring to a foreign film's title in its original language is pretentious. Do you call The Good, the Bad and the Ugly Il Buono, il brutto, il cattivo? Fuck.)

It's not pretentious at all, I speak Swedish.

Oh, for good comedy one should read your thoughts on how Warhammer 40k has been 'improved'

Nice try though.

*on topic edit*

It's all gone Pete Tong.

Screwball comedy about an a-list dj in Ibiza who goes deaf and struggles with coke addiction, finally overcoming the latter and learning how to mix w/o ears. The satire was probably ok in some parts but then again my rave was never of the "oh let's go to Pacha" variety. Also the drug problem manifesting itself as a Donnie Darkoesque creature, this time a badger, was crap.

1/5 stopped watching after an hour or so.

HOLY SHIT IT WASN'T EVEN A GIRL, THAT SCENE WAS THERE TO PROVE THAT, NOT TO JUST SHOW SOME 12 YEAR OLD CLAM. FUCK.

I already addressed this, so I'm going to assume that you're either being sarcastic or you're illiterate.

Right, because this is a Swedish forum, and I speak the language as well... Fuck you, it's pretentious, I don't care whether you speak the language or not, that's not the point. And you're just straight up wrong about 40K, period.

I suggested you grow a brain before talking to me again. It's good advice. You should take it.

Actually, that's not the full title, but I can't remember the rest and just wanted to be pretentious.

It was crap, but my 4 year old niece seemed to enjoy it.

Edit

Japanese text getting screwed up. It was Purikyua, if anyone cares.

Videodrone (1983) - Starts out so so, but turns into another one of David Croenburg's freakish sci-fi/horror social commentaries. 3/5

Quantum of Solace- Hard to follow Casino Royale especially with an actual sequel. Dissapointing but still an alright movie in it's own right.

7/10

Transporter 3- I like the first movie and most of Stathams other roles but this one just did not work for me. Better than Transporters 2 though.

5/10

Videodrome is awesome. Prolly my favourite Cronenberg movie. It gets better with further viewings, but still screws with your head.

Been watching Woods in Shark recently. Still think Videodrome was up there with his best work.

My Name Is Bruce: B-Movie and Campbell fans will likely eat this up (I know I did) while everyone else will likely give a crap less. Not as good as Bubbha but it more than makes up for Screaming Brain.

Behind The Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon: One of the more surprisingly enjoyable films I've watched in while. In short... it's a Black-Comedy/Slasher-Horror/Documentary (Mockumentary?) film. Quite well done. Surprisingly well done actually. Horror fans will get a kick out of it for sure.

CJ7 (or Cheung Gong 7 hou): Stephen Chow's kid flick. Typical Chow-style comedy. I enjoyed it as I enjoy Chow. The little kid stole the show while Chow took a backseat. Had a few mature moments... as I suppose any good kid film does.

The Machinist, crap "Am I nuts or..." thriller, the arc of drama meant for 10-yo kids.
2/5

Hated that fucking movie, what a waste of an hour or however long it was. Boring and stupid. Did he really need to get so skinny for that role? I don't see why he needed to be anorexic to make that shitty movie.

But he didn't sleep for a whole year! Which would kill him in real life. Yeah, that movie is overrated.

Speaking of strangely overrated, I finally watched Slumdog Millionaire. Dunno, I guess the love story was cute, and I suppose the overall story arc works if you can buy into it for what it's supposed to be, but I also had (still have) a really hard time shaking this, damn, that's a lot of coincidences kind of feeling. Dev Patel was really good in the lead role, I think that's the only thing that saved it for me.

I also didn't buy how the cop does this 180 from torturer to okay I'll be your buddy let's talk now I'm going to threaten to torture you again.

I'd go 7/10 at best, certainly not Best Picture worthy, and absolutely not in the same class as No Country or The Departed. Huge letdown from 07 and 08 to 09, wow.

After mentioning Videodrome, Kid Aphex recommended me to watch eXistenZ. I'll do the same for you.

Scanners is a pretty cool movie too, although the actor who plays the main character isn't too good. Really weird movie though.

His performance was good, but the script was lacking. And true "absolutely no sleep at all" insomnia is actually pretty rare. More likely, he had slow-sleep insomnia, which won't kill you, but it can sure make you wish you were dead after a while.

More OT, my wife and I watched Waiting... and its sequel recently. The first one was purchased from the Wal-Mart bargain bin on a whim, and it got a lot more laughs than either of us expected. The second one is also funny, but not nearly as much so, nor as frequently. Both of them can be a little on the gross side, but nothing on the level of a Tom Green or Farrelly Bros. movie. The first one is a definite must-watch for some good, stupid fun. The second is kind of disposable, and almost all of its humor depends on being familiar with the first. Still not bad, though.

EDIT...

Just stop right there. You didn't like the Big Lebowski? Seriously?

I didn't much care for it, either. I didn't find it particularly funny or entertaining. Maybe I'd heard too many people gushing about it beforehand, but it just wasn't doing anything for me. I'm not a fan of the "day in the life" style of filmmaking.

Oh, and the wife and I also watched Role Models. Pretty funny, although the black kid was kind of a throwaway character. It also proves that proper cinematography and editing can make even LARPing look engaging and fun.

Crows Zero -
I forgot who recommended this, but it was someone here. The movie was stupid, but the brawl scenes were pretty fun. It's very visceral if you can get over the typical Japanese hermaphrodite lovin'.

Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist (2008) - I'm not much for chic flicks, but someone recommended it on another forum and I liked it. Good dialogue and chemistry between the characters. 4/5

Hahahaha. That's what I thought of, too.

Forgot one movie- Tales of the Black Freighter, on BD: the little companion deal to Watchmen that Zach Snyder put together. BF is only like 26 minutes long, but it's really, really well done. Gerard Butler does an excellent job narrating, the images are spot-on super gory, and it's just perfect at evoking exactly what it should as the pirate comic.

And then you also get a new fake newsmag "Culpeper Minute," complete with lead roles by the actors from the movie, 37 minute long feature on "Under the Hood." Really impressive little piece, expands on what's in the book in very natural kind of a way.

Though it might seem a bit light on content for the price, there's really no way in the world that I wouldn't recommend this to any fan of the book or the movie, period. Great companion piece to either. Bridges the gap between the two remarkably well, with storytelling that's nearly perfect, probably because it doesn't have to stay so damn literal.

9/10 , I loved it and the quality is also really high, in general.

Role Models- If I had know some of the people from The State were involved I would have seen it when it was in theaters.

Hilarious.

Watch the special features.

Miracle at St. Anna - 4/5; I don't know what it is but I loved this movie. There were several places the editors could have dumped whole scenes but I enjoying seeing a different angle on World War II, through the eyes of a black American squad trapped in a foreign country where they felt more themselves than back home in America where they knew they were only second class citizens. Some of the stuff concerning the Italian partisans could have been trimmed. The massacre of St. Anna was hard to watch. Especially the scene with the bayonet. You know which one I'm talking about.

W - 4/5; really liked this one too. I didn't think they mocked the man all that much, I guess he made a mockery of himself. Also made me feel sorry for the guy too: knowing the limitations of your own mind, knowing you're mediocre, but still pushing forward because really, what else do you have going for you? Too bad the country is along for the ride for better or for worse. Dreyfuss' portrayal of Cheney was awesome. The chick portraying Condie could have done some more homework on getting the role right but she also needed more screen time too.

Colin Powell: Didn't you once say that going into Iraq was a bad idea?

Dick Cheney: I think you made an even bigger boo-boo, Colin. You could have been president.

Powell: Fuck you.

Transporter 3 - 3/5; i never expect much out of the transporter films so I'm never disappointed. Jason Statham makes us bald guys look good.

The Bourne Trilogy - 5/5; wow. Awesome movies.

Watched the first half of the 3-hour documentary of Kraftwerk. It goes into a lot about the Krautrock scene on the late 60s & 70s and Tangerine Dream. Interesting stuff. I'll watch the rest probably Thurs.

Ghosts of Mars - John Carpenter's goofiest movie, I think. Kind of crazy watching Jason Statham and Ice Cube play second fiddles to Natasha Henstridge. Still a fun movie, though- second-rate John Carpenter is better than the vast majority of the rest of the crap that's out there. 7/10

Seven Pounds - I figure I best actually watch something if I want to be able to bash it (i.e. this, Zach and Miri Make a Porno). My take on SP is that the premise is still ridiculous, but if you're gonna do it, this is as well as it can be pulled off. Not actually aggressively bad or anything (as in, yes, I was sort of wrong). 4/10

Ronin - Hadn't seen this for quite a while, still good. Nice car chases. Still convoluted beyond that, I suppose. Reno and DeNiro tongether, though, gotta like that. Oh, and Pryce is shit in this movie. 7/10, if I'm being generous- I guess I will be since I love when Katarina Witt goes down.
