How many of you fags gave a shit about the faggy avengers when you were a kid or even teenager?

Avengers was as shit as fantastic four was until they made the iron man movie so many years ago.

Never read an Avengers comic book

But I have a serious deep feeling for Genesis Captain America & The Avengers. That was a great game, and one of the few better on Genesis than SNES. I had no idea who many of the characters were but that game made me feel like a hero, as I was 6 or 7 at the time of playing it.

I didn't read the Avengers books. But I 'was there' during the Infinity Saga in the 90s, so it's nice to see a big budget movie version of one of my favorite 90s comic stories.

gatekeeping comics? Sorry, that shit went out the window with BigBangTheory.

As a comic? I thought it was trash. I read The Punisher and Wolverine. Sadly, the Punisher still hasn't been treated right, at least we got Logan.

I'm interested in seeing Endgame for the pure spectacle of it all, it will be the first Avengers film I've ever seen in the theater.

Punisher Warzone is great.

I saw Glass last week, and I understand people's complaints. I enjoyed it though, thought MacVoy and SLJ were awesome. Didn't bother me that
Spoiler:
all 3 died, although the way Bruce Willis died did sucked

I'm bored of movies trying to be dark pointlessly.

Glass is a fucking cartoon. Did they really need to end it the way they did? It should have been uplifting and it wasn't. They completely wasted the actors in it. It's one of those turds like the last two Matrix movies that actually makes the original worse.

I really liked Unbreakable. Too bad.

Oh and End Game was a laughable turd too.

Been going on a survival binge as of late...

The Reef - sharks
Black water - croc
Arctic - tundra/polar bear

Any other recommendation of survival films. Doesn't have to be animals trying to eat them.

Avengers:Ben Gay - a decent but unremarkable end to the Marvel movies. The first 30 minutes is a snoozer and then it's largely just tying up loose ends, finishing character arcs and an endless series of callbacks to previous movies. I didn't dislike it but I am officially done with seeing Marvel movies unless they do something really interesting down the road. Now for the spoilery shit.

Spoiler:
- Half-Hulk is some creepy uncanny valley shit.
- The girl power moment in the final battle sequence was cringy as fuck, particularly in light of how little they're in the rest of the movie
- Time travel movies are always bullshit that you just have to roll with but this movie was particularly stupid in that regard... like Bill+Ted level stupid but those movies always owned it
- Wayyyyy too much aging/de-aging CGI shenanigans
- Stark's nicknames are entertaining as always

Also watched C.H.U.D. and Clue this week.

I've seen Clue a million times and it's always entertaining. Never really understood why it got shit on upon release. Amazing character actors in almost every role and the writing is clever in a half-Zucker, half-Marx Bros. kind of way. I imagine that kind of comedy is not for everyone but the final explanation scene is peak Tim Curry. Plus Colleen Camp in this movie probably shaped my love for boobs at an early age.

As for C.H.U.D., I was expecting more as I'd always heard the movie had an underground following, pardon the pun. A bunch of good actors in it but the monsters are lame (during a time when creature f/x were in their prime) and everyone in it seems bored and like they'd rather be anywhere else.

Not a film, a series, check out The Terror. It's only ten episodes so you can finish it over a long weekend.

If it is, al the good parts must have happened in the second half of the movie after I gave up and turned it off in disgust.

Are you just being edgy? Warzone was fantastic for us who read the comics.

Maybe you wanted something more Snyder/Nolanesque.

Avengers 4 - I am not a fan of the Marvel movies. I was even pretty meh about Infinity War. I also went into this knowing nothing, I mean I saw a trailer some months ago but that was it.

Wow. Bravo. There was a point in the film I wanted to clap like a fucking goon. Someone else here said they knew everything that was going to happen, I sure as hell didn't and that made it all the better. Those three hours passed by just fine too.

I can't understand why I like it and nearly everyone else is meh about it. This is a fantastic blockbuster and the first Avengers film I like.

I love End Game too. It wasn't perfect but about as good as it gets for a big ensemble with so many characters and storylines cumulating to a big finale that has a few emotional scenes. I know there is
Spoiler:
time travel elements
in bringing everyone back but didn't know how it was handled as it can go so many different ways. The way they did it is really fun and acknowledge the absurdity of it all, even calling back
Spoiler:
Back to the Future
specifically as a wink wink to the audience. Of course, it ends up breaking its own internal logic
Spoiler:
with Cap

My only gripe is
Spoiler:
the last battle, where you have everyone fighting Thano's generic army again a la Avengers 1
I also wish there is more for CM to do but there are so many characters already and she really isn't part of the Avengers. I feel like she and Scarlet Witch could have taken on Thanos all by themselves without much problem.

Yeah I agree with you there. There's so much to pack in and even at 3 hours it wasn't enough to cover everything, thankfully I can't recall any scene that didn't feel necessary. This was one of the few Marvel movies where I actually cared for the characters.

I think my biggest gripe was
Spoiler:
Gwyneth Paltrow's acting. At a scene that really, really needed to be emotional she made it feel very phoned in and not at all authentic. She didn't make it feel like she loved him enough.

Ready Player One

This was available for free streaming and my 10 year old wanted to see it...so I figured why not.

In short, the film is complete trash...mediocre acting, limp plot, predictable elements.

...but then there's the whole 80's nostalgia element, which at times goes waaayyy down the rabbit hole. This parts confuses me, for a film obviously aimed at a mindless 14-18 year old kid, it makes an ocean of references that hardly any of them would ever know (or even care about if they did). This element makes me question, is this supposed to appeal to adults? When I say the film is dumb...I mean it, it really is not good at all. I can't imagine it appealing to most people our age, even with the never ending pop culture references.

Either way, the film is dumb and the approach is confusing.

I totally agree. I saw this with my nephew a while back and made comments about what was on screen and he had no idea what I was talking about.

When RPO was released people raved over it. But I thought like you, it was garbage. I think people based their opinions on what they were told to think.

You are right, she was fairly weak up until she said "We are going to be okay"... that got me

The best part of the movie was the race right in the beginning, after that it sucked.

I was really glad I waited to watch Ready Player One with the Rifftrax. No way I could have made it through the movie otherwise.

Avengers: Endgame
I liked it a lot. They wrapped things up pretty nicely. As soon as I realized the theme of the movie, I just had to stick back and enjoy it. If you analyze it I'm sure it falls apart, but whatever, it's an action movie.

I was expecting it to be a lot darker and I'd like to see what that would've been like, but whatever.

With a lot of Marvel movies, I feel like I really love them for the first few weeks after seeing them, but after a while I look back and think, "Eh, it was just pretty good" save for Iron Man 1, Guardians 1, Winter Soldier, and Ant Man. So I don't know how I'll feel about this one down the line, but like I said, it was a good wrap-up.

I'm hoping Marvel really changes up their formula after Endgame. I don't think it's a bad thing that all of the movies feel similar; I think that's a strength in a way. But after 10 years, it's time for a change to the look, feel, and narrative formula they've been using.

Seems like such a waste of time and money to watch Disney shit in a theater, or even at home.

it's one of the few times I did not know what was going to happen, that alone was worth the price of admission
