Most feasible way to turn US capcom six button layout into a MVS 4 button layout?

If I wanted to do a little project with one of my cabs and turn it from the capcom to a neo geo button layout, how would I do it? Do ANY of the buttons line up well enough to bother?

I think it might work to just drill another button to the left of the other buttons in the middle of the two rows. Then you could just cover the bottom row.

I'd drill one to the right.... Straight on....

Then you'd be able to wire both the Neo and CPSII/III.

Looking at my impress cp it looks pretty tight to drill a 4th hole...I'd almost be tempted to purchase an astrocity 4-button neo style cp and change cps whenever ya want to play neo...Hate to cya butcher the cp, as impress cps are pretty hard to find. You'd have to 2x check whether or not an astro cp will fit an impress but they sure look like their the same shape.
Heheh, thats my plan anyways for my egret2's...going to see if Matsu or someone can help me make a custom 4 joystick CP (no buttons) so I can swap it into one of my cabs whenever I want to play smashtv or total carnage ;P

I wired the strong kick button to be used as the Neo's D button and it still works with kick harness.

Wouldn't the easiest way just be to make a new CP?

Or you could just wire it up like this (:emb: = buttons not used):

:B: :C: :D:
:A: :emb: :emb:

That might be akward though.

You could do this:

:emb: :B: :C: :D:
:A: :emb: :emb:

You would have to drill a new hole for D and fill in the old holes, but I think they make plugs that fit perfectly. You can get a drill bit that is the exact size you need to drill button holes though.

that's the best choice imo, unless your cab is shit and you don't mind drilling holes all over it.

I'd suggest getting a few molex connectors and some wire to add a bridge somewhere between the connection of the buttons to the harness. Depending on how you arrange the connections on the bridge you can change the layout, so have one bridge for a proper 6-Button setup and one for Neo-Geo.

As far as the NG layout, I'd do:

:B: :C: :D:
:A: x [SELECT]
