Received a japanese MSX last week.

Upon starting it - the neo geo logo appeared and then the game rebootet back to my Unibios 3.0 screen.

Happened the whole time.

Rom check was ok - Jukebox also works perfectly.

Checked the game today with another friend's unmodded japanese AES system..

and it worked without any problems.

so I guess there is some bad interference between my Unibios 3.0 and MSX?

any experience with this case?

The first thing I did after the first reboot.

Are you using the correct power supply with your AES? I remember reading something about MSX being more demanding in terms of power, so evn if other games work, MSX might reboot the machine because of lack of power.

I am using a Neo-Pow 3 that came with the system back in 2002 when I bought it.
Japanese model.

What I just realized - my Unibios 3.0 is giving me a wrong AES serial number than what is written on the back of my system..

The Unibios serial number is set by Raz when it's programmed. If you didn't specifically ask him to set it to the same serial as your machine it won't match.

Serial won't matter, it's irrelevant anything in terms of functionality.

Ok then.

Since it ran without any problems on my friend's unmodded AES system I susped that either the cart has some little fault that the Unibios is detecting OR my Unibios might be faulty and/or my AES system.

I will give it another try tonight with a bigger converter (maybe the power is really not enough..)

And clean it again with 100% Isopropanol (both cart and system).

BTW: I did a CRC check - everything was OK - I just wondered when trying the Jukebox that I get an error the first time, and it plays the music perfectly the second time.

Btw

is there a better way to clean the AES slot contacts then with cotton swabs?

Have difficulty getting between the contacts to clean them properly...

and don't use just IPA, it doesn't help against corrosion. What you want is good contact cleaner.
