Or you could go to the theory of "Supply and Demand"...I've seen a PSA1 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle go for $3,500...its a piece of paper, but it has meaning! WTF does Metal Slug have? Uh Oh....I just thought of something...I might be blowing it here...Say there are 1,000 1952 Topps Mickey Mantles out there...but there are 100,000 re-prints...WAY LESS in value...Then you have Metal Slug...how many were made? I'm gonna say 1,000 (just a judgement based on its insane price) are the MVS versions considered re-prints? Is that why they cost less? I'm confusing myself....I'm going to bed...Goodnight all!

MVS versions were made first, so they couldnt be re-prints

Wow. this is some crazy stuff. All this for a friggin game. God, what a world, only in the neo community would something like this go down. The hc scene is just about as out of hand as it can get, people need to stop the blasted impulse buying and friggin wait!!!

It's called supply and demand guys...I could put a Ninja Combat cart up on E-Bay right now starting at $1000 if I felt like it...and guess what (gasp) NO ONE WOULD BID ON IT! Thats because no one gives a shit about Ninja Combat! People want Metal Slug because its rare and its a good game...don't blame the prices on Shawns list, cuz that has nothing to do with it. If someone wants Metal Slug for Home Cart then...they want Metal Slug for Home Cart! They bid to win...simple as that.Shawn bases the list off of sales because thats the best way to determine the pricing...if a majority of people will pay alot of money for a particular cart then thats what the cart goes for. So lets say Shawn took the price list down...you think people are gonna stop out bidding you just cuz thers no price list to go by? IF PEOPLE WANT THE GAME THEN THERE GOING TO DO WHATEVER IT TAKES TO GET IT!

Oh...Chubby, Comparing a Metal Slug cart to some piece of shit baseball card? I'm dissapointed

It's incredible.I'm a player and not a collector so my money will not be spent in rare games but in good games.Even if MS is a good one, it can't match with MS3 which is very cheaper.I hope that the rise of the prices will stop here.

Well, Ukyo the only reason people pay so much for it is because of the price guide. Looke at the message added to the auction..."Someone told me this was worth $1,200 so I will not end it early" Why was it worth that? Because of the INSANE prices posted at:

www.Neo-Geo.com and www.Neogeofreak.com

If these prices did not exist I would only wonder why Metal Slug would go for so much!

I'll personally e-mail the person willing to shell out $1000 for ONE game a thorough listing for therapists here in NYC. Seriously... paying this much money for a game doesn't boost your status around here. It just shows that you're a moron.

And Chubby... the reson why the prices are so high is because one lucky person was able to find someone desperate evough to buy Metal Slug that they shelled out an obnoxious amount of cash for it. He then went around and bragged about it, so other Metal Slug cart owners immediately boost up the price of their own carts to see if they can cash in. They will never realize that the chances of them EVER finding someone desperate enough to pay over $1000 for a game is almost impossible... but they don't care. The game is worth no more than $200 (IMHO), and I don't care what pricing guide says. Neo Geo games are supposed to DROP in value... not quadruple from its original price value.

Seriously, I think they all need psychiatric help, but that's just me. You'll never catch me paying that much for ANY video game. Then again, I'm not the most normal individual either...

Isn't it funny how the same 3 or 4 people WHINE INCESSANTLY about prices? Guys, get a life . . . carts will sell for what the market dictates, and if some idiot wants to pay 2K for a MS1 cart, there's nothing you all can do about it, especially by your pathetic whining.

Caris, your comments about moving to Japan are idiotic, WE DON'T LIVE IN JAPAN AND MOST PEOPLE DON'T BUY DIRECT FROM THERE, DUH
rolleyes.gif
?!?! Why don't YOU move to japan, so you can then stop WHINING all the time? Then you can get all those carts at DIRT CHEAP prices as you say they are!! Your comments about judging rarity by production numbers are also idiotic, since NO ONE KNOWS WHAT THE PRODUCTION NUMBERS ARE!!!!

THE MORE YOU IDIOTS WHINE ABOUT THE PRICE GUIDE, THE MORE PEOPLE LOOK AT IT!!! I haven't even BOTHERED to look at it in MONTHS if not longer, but I guess I'll head over and see what the carts are at now, in case I want to sell a few for spending $$$.

Bottom line, get a F***ING life and STOP WHINING!!!!
