hard to believe i have a rare variant...

...So is everyone else missing synopsis/logo art/ any sort of mention of MS 6 on their page 11?

Not to be a dick, but c'mon Ben H and co- it's like y'all get so close (getting the game out, color manual) then don't fully execute a DOABLE JOB (contoller lag, f'd up manual).

For real, there is no excuse for the hickups-and yes, I hold a grudge for samsho xbox debacle, and no US rebout.

Don't make me out to be a 'hater either- I've a critical eye because I'm a paying customer who wants his beloved series treated right.

Delaymore may have well as let XS games do this turd...I'm pissed cause I had such high hopes, and AGAIN they were dashed.

*starts saving up for an AtomisWave*

Yeah i'm missing the MS6 page also. How about the fact that the directions are a cut and paste of the PSP directions. It says you can save your game....thats not an option in the PS2 version.

Yeah the PSP version is nice in that its portable and has saves but the loading definetly breaks up the action.

IT'S BULLET TIME!!

‘Gun and run' classic coming soon to PlayStation®2

Date: 13 th April ‘07

Following the successful release on PSP® (PlayStation®Portable), SNK Playmore and Ignition Entertainment are pleased to announce the European release of Metal Slug Anthology for PlayStation®2.

Debuting in the arcades on the NEOGEO MVS arcade system back in April 1996, the Metal Slug series has become one of the most-loved arcade and console gaming franchises.

Containing Metal Slug, Metal Slug 2, Metal Slug X, Metal Slug 3, Metal Slug 4, Metal Slug 5 and the latest addition to the series, Metal Slug 6 - this series has long been regarded as the bench mark of side-scrolling purity, and stands proud as one of the most important 2D platform-shooters on today's current gaming platforms .

Known for its fast action packed gameplay, as well as the stunning hand drawn and animated graphics, this Anthology delivers all of the fire power you would expect from SNK Playmore.

‘The Metal Slug franchise is synonymous with frantic arcade action and over the top exciting gun play' says Peter Rollinson, Product Manager, Ignition Entertainment ‘PlayStation®2 owning fans can also now experience the thrills that this popular franchise has to offer'.

Key Features:

  • Arcade Perfect conversions
  • 2 Player Co-operative play
  • Unlockable items
  • Bonus Galleries containing classic poster and character art as well as other Metal Slug goodies.

Distributed by Atari in UK , France , Germany and the Nordic countries, Metal Slug Anthology for the PlayStation®2 is scheduled for release May ‘07.

WOW, they took the slowdown out of 2.
I know Tak might be miffed at the idea, but I think it's great..well, part of me does.
I'll always have the MVS original, at least.

Also, out of all the Anthologies at Best Buy, I pick the one with a scratched up disc...I mean this sucker is scratched to hell, I have no idea what happened but it wasn't in the CD holder thing when I opened it.
Needless to say I'm confused, but also too lazy to go back to BB. Here's to hoping that despite all the crazy ass unexplained cat scratches the games will be fine.

I have the Wii version of anthology and was thinking of trading it in for the PS2 version. First though I wanted to clarify a couple of questions.

1.) I heard a different team developed the Japanese version titled Metal slug complete. Is this true and if so is the Japanese version better than the American one and how so?

2.) How well do the Slug games in the PS2 anthology work with a Hori arcade stick? My major complain with the Wii one was that My stick did not work with my PS2 to Cube adapter and the button configurations of the cube controller for MS6 were horrendous.

3.) Is MS6 in the anthology really the same (or at least plays the same) as the stand alone MS6 released in Japan for PS2? My main reason for buying anthology is to be able to play MS6 with my Hori Arcade stick. If the stand alone MS6 is a lot better I might just pick that up.

4.) I read everywhere how bad the lag is in MS1. Is the lag in MS2 just as bad? How does the lag compare to the Wii version of MS anthology? MS2 is by far my favorite slug game. If the Wii version of MS2 is better then the PS2 one then I may keep the Wii version instead of trading in.

Thanks for any help.

1) No. Both of them were developed by the same company, SNK Playmore. The only thing different is that they were released by different distributers--SNKP in Asia, Ignition Entertainment and Atari UK in EU, and SNKPUSA in Americas.

2) I don't have a Hori arcade stick, but I do have a similar arcade controller compatible with PS2, and it worked great after configuring the buttons in the game.

3) No. Metal Slug 6 included in the Metal Slug Anthology is not the same as the standalone Metal Slug 6 released in Asia. The standalone Metal Slug 6 is a port of the arcade game that included extra features and console mode, whereas the Metal Slug 6 included in the Metal Slug Anthology is merely the Atomiswave arcade ROM being emulated.

4) There is no lag for Metal Slug 1. I haven't tried the Wii version of the Metal Slug Anthology, so I wouldn't know. However, I did note that the lag for Metal Slug 2 is considerably less than that of the original game for Neo Geo.
