I have the Wii version of anthology and was thinking of trading it in for the PS2 version. First though I wanted to clarify a couple of questions.
1.) I heard a different team developed the Japanese version titled Metal slug complete. Is this true and if so is the Japanese version better than the American one and how so?
2.) How well do the Slug games in the PS2 anthology work with a Hori arcade stick? My major complain with the Wii one was that My stick did not work with my PS2 to Cube adapter and the button configurations of the cube controller for MS6 were horrendous.
3.) Is MS6 in the anthology really the same (or at least plays the same) as the stand alone MS6 released in Japan for PS2? My main reason for buying anthology is to be able to play MS6 with my Hori Arcade stick. If the stand alone MS6 is a lot better I might just pick that up.
4.) I read everywhere how bad the lag is in MS1. Is the lag in MS2 just as bad? How does the lag compare to the Wii version of MS anthology? MS2 is by far my favorite slug game. If the Wii version of MS2 is better then the PS2 one then I may keep the Wii version instead of trading in.
Thanks for any help.
1) No. Both of them were developed by the same company, SNK Playmore. The only thing different is that they were released by different distributers--SNKP in Asia, Ignition Entertainment and Atari UK in EU, and SNKPUSA in Americas.
2) I don't have a Hori arcade stick, but I do have a similar arcade controller compatible with PS2, and it worked great after configuring the buttons in the game.
3) No. Metal Slug 6 included in the Metal Slug Anthology is
not the same as the standalone Metal Slug 6 released in Asia. The standalone Metal Slug 6 is a port of the arcade game that included extra features and console mode, whereas the Metal Slug 6 included in the Metal Slug Anthology is merely the Atomiswave arcade ROM being emulated.
4) There is no lag for Metal Slug 1. I haven't tried the Wii version of the Metal Slug Anthology, so I wouldn't know. However, I did note that the lag for Metal Slug 2 is considerably less than that of the original game for Neo Geo.
