I was a little hesitant about buying the new album after I heard the first single "Die Dead Enough" but I went for it in hopes that the rest of the tracks would be killer.....it turns out that THEY ARE! This album is what Megadeth should be. I would put it anywhere between R.I.P. and Youthanasia as far as song composition, guitar work and overall presentation.

The opening track, Blackmail the Universe, is totally R.I.P. era 'Deth, Track 2, Die Dead Enough, is more Youthanasia, Track 3, Kick the Chair, sounds like CTE era, Track 4, The Scorpion sounds like Youth era, track 5, Tears in a Vial, also souds like Youth era, track 6, I Know Jack sounds like R.I.P era, Track 7, Back in the Day both sounds like CTE era, tracks 8,9,10, 11 and 12, Something that I'm not, Truth be told, Of mice and men, shadow of Deth and My kingdom, all sound like CTE era.

This album rips from open to end. Mustaine is in top form, Poland's playing has developed tremendously since we last heard his work on Peace Sells, and the session drummer and bass player that Dave brought in are top notch. Honestly, it sounds like the R.I.P. lineup.

Enough typing, go buy The System Has Failed!

I had the pleasure of listening to "Kick the Chair" on the local radio station today, and I was like holy shit that sounds awesome. I will definitely be picking this album up tomorrow.

I have this too, it is really good. Marty was good too, but I am really digging hearing the Poland style solo in 'Deth again...

I thought Dave Mustaine was dead. Not spamming either, I seriously thought that.

Yagami-

Yes I'm totally thrilled at the quality of SYstem.... I've had the pleasure of listening to the MP3's for 2 months prior... a friend found them all on a newsgroups site, burned my own CD and gotta say listening to this unreleased stuff Dave had written all these years... is great.

I will of course buy the real CD at the earliest convenience. I may also buy up Megadeth's remasters too.

My only gripe... I have a MP3 of a song called "I know Jack", a fantastic instrumental... yet its so short :(. God almighty I love metal instrumentals. Anyway, the song lists I saw on the net don't list this song on the released CD yet I was hoping they would change their mind. Do you know if this song is on the released CD?

No friend, he just seriously hurt his left hand... or so the story goes. I bet M. Yagami knows more, as political Megadeth has been, I really wonder what REALLY happened to Megadeth after World needs a hero:

Dave Jr quits, then wanted to sue Dave M. for song rites
Dave M messes his left hand up, may never play again.
.
.
.
Dave M goes through uber Occupational and Physical Therapy and Rehab... boom we got System.

I really wonder what went on...

Already bought it....ALBUM OF THE FUCKING YEAR. Not that there was any question in my mind, this just solidifies Megadeth as the undisputed kings of metal. Forever it seems Megadeth was held as second fiddle to Metallica, but this is the nail in the coffin to silence that myth.

The System Has Failed is a fucking oasis of joy for metal fans in a vast ocean of punk mother fucking nu-metal faggs, and the vomit of modern day Metallica. You would think maybe Mustaine might have lost an edge with his fucked up arm, but he sounds better than ever. And you've gotta appreciate the real true to form classic artwork of the cover.

Heres the fall Tour schedule, with venues to be announced. I gotta hit that Chicago date. http://www.megadeth.com/index.php?section=killingroad

I know Jack is on the released CD, its right before Back in the Day. Short track, but it rips.

I also like the fact that Mustaine puts James in his place with Back in the Day and Something That I'm Not.

Wasn't Mustaine unable to play guitar due to an arms dicease recovery ?

I should go find out this album even if the GOD isn't still playing with them.
Marty shouldn't have gone from 'Deth. Al Pitrelli is just O.K.

Originally Mustaine had Ed Repka lined up to do the cover (Repka did the covers for Peace Sells and R.I.P.). Unfortunately the deal fell through. The cover Mike Learn did is good, but an Ed Repka cover would have made the package complete.

Also, from what I understand, Chris Poland is not going to be able to play the tour, however Nick Menza (R.I.P. thru CW?) will be the drummer. That should kick ass.
