If I fuck up the poll, I'll figure it out; haven't made a thread w/a poll before.

For voting/consideration this month:

Gradius V (PS2)
Trigger Heart Exelica (DC, NAOMI)
Border Down (DC, NAOMI)
Brave Blade (PCB, MAME(?))

2 verts, 2 horis, all good games IMO. Vote!

Ok, let's get the ball rolling...

Voted for Border Down ;)

I return from vacation tomorrow, in time for next month's fun.

GV for me, it was one of the games that reintroduced me to my love of shmups that was once forgotten.

Triggerheart - really neat gimmicks in that game.

6 weeks ago I would've voted Brave Blade :smirk:

gonna refrain from voting, since I can't guarantee participation, however since these are all solid titles and I missed last month, I'll try to get a score up for whatever wins :)

Brave Blade is fun ;) I need to put in some more time on that, though by the looks of this poll it probably won't be for a SotM :lolz:

I was torn on voting in my own poll... if I ranked all my favorite shmups, Triggerheart would probably be above any of the others I nominated, but I've spent the most time on it out of these games too. I voted Gradius V since I need more work on hori shooters and the graphics are among my all time favorites.

I only have Triggerheart Exelica on the PS2. Does that count? If not I'll pick Gradius V instead.

I believe the ps2/xbla versions score differently than arcade/dreamcast. If Trigger Heart Exelica won, I'd create a separate table for PS2 scores unless someone provides information that the arcade mode scoring is actually accurate.

Looks like Border Down is taking it. I voted for it because I should be able to hook up my dreamcast into a new net city that arrives on Friday, and I have that game lying around somewhere.

Yeah, looks like border down is taking it. Of all these games, I'm the worst at that one, so maybe this will be some motivation to learn it a bit better.

Since we'll all have our Dreamcasts and NAOMIs fired up anyway, I'll probably run a side score table for triggerheart exelica on those systems.

Brave Blade is super fun to play, both for "coolness factor" and for score. Transforming sword jets / mechs? Heck yeah! 10k medal? Screw that crap, juggle that bitch up to 100k! This game definitely makes it near the top of my "most underrated STGs" list for sure. But I'm probably one of a very small list of people on the forum that has a PCB for it, so I can't see it winning any votes.

I enjoy Triggerheart quite a bit as well. It got a lot more fun once I understood the swing mechanics more and started unlocking the extra boss sections.

I've spent several hours with Border Down on and off over the years, but honestly I still don't see much appeal in this game. Oh well, I got hooked on Zed Blade after spending a few extra days on it, so maybe I'll enjoy BD more down the line.

I bought Mike's Brave Blade PCB from him, I've only played a few credits but I really like the mechanics and scoring.

Anyway, I'll start the score thread for the month now.
