This month's shmup of the month is Fire Shark!



[Rules]

Arcade: 3 lives, extends at 70K and every 200K, and medium difficulty.

Mega Drive/Genesis: 3 lives, normal difficulty.

Hi-Score format: Player - Score - Stage - Autofire(On/Off) - Platform

The Japanese and American versions of the game, for both Arcade and Mega Drive, are different enough in difficulty. So we'll have separate scoreboards for each. Also for the arcade version of Same!Same!Same! we'll be using the "1p" version.

Got the Genesis version put on the NGX, this is a game I've never played before, but I'm always up for non-bullet hell shooters. So be prepared to see some terrible scores.

Semi-interesting fact: This was the game I got with my first Mega Drive in 1990 and I played the shit out of it

Pro-tips:
1. Get laser
2. Power up laser
3. Avoid losing laser
4. Don't die

Flamethrower fully powered up is almost broken in the granny version. Ill get a score up in a couple of days.

I agree. Flame thrower fully powered and auto fire will probably be the easiest way to get through the game. Ultra powerful and has a decent range when fully powered up.

According to a shumps thread I read the other day, the Japanese version is supposedly harder. I haven't actually personally tried it to compare the two though.
