I am using the usa naomi bios 'E' and what appears to be a US mvc2 cart. I have been able to use it fine for a year, and it had just recently started freezing. I had tried it with different mobos (another us and japanese) and i still get the same problem, so with egret 2 and new astro city. Some times it freezes at the load screen, other times during the game. Anyone have this problem before, or a possible solution? Thanks!

So its doing the same thing in different cabs, oh man this reminds me of that other mvc2 cart that was floating around a few years back that had the same issues with no happy ending.

Do you have a multimeter, measure the voltages on the harness with the board with the mvc2 game powered up.

No multimeter, but nothing has been changed on the cabs at all. Yeah, I got this cart on ebay a while ago. Clear your PM box btw it seems to be full :)

I think its a general curse with that particular naomi cart. have you tried dusting out the cart and all that good stuff.

I think someone else said that it was a connection issue between the cart and mobo.

shouldn't do it with two boards though.. check the connector and give it a clean out and see if that helps (on the cart)

Thanks guys. I will give it a shot and let everyone know what happens. It was working fine before, and I've tried quite a few different scenarios with every other cart/cab/mobo working, so the only thing in question would be the cart. Does anything need to be unscrewed to cleaned, or just the connectors?

Thanks Mainman! I might have to do that, just to catch up!

Here is a screen cap of it freezing. The most consistant freezes are when it transitions from character select screen to the match, or freezing at the title screen when idle or just turns to white at random.

Am I completely hosed?

There are a bunch of tiny surface mount 16-bit buffer ICs. They need to be replaced.

It's been rumored that voltage levels above 5.2v will kill them.

I believe channelmaniac has already done the leg work and determined the issue to be caused by faulty 74LCX16245, I can do the surface mount work but I will need to order the parts as I do not have them on hand

I can, but I'm swamped with travel at the moment so I'm slow on turning things around.

I have the chips in stock.

Clear your inbox and I'll get you pricing.

Inbox cleared and PM sent!

If Channelmaniac to busy to help I can still take care of it since I nearing the end of the project I've been working on. I'm about to order parts for myself so let me know before I place my order
