I agree it's amazing. The only new point I can think to add is that some of the music reminds me of Pikmin/Pikmin 2 - the spacey cool music - I love it personally - the game is fantastic - even the first little level in space is amazing - the backgrounds have a lot of depth and beauty to them - especially if you like space stuff.

I am about 10 stars in and have been totally hooked. Everything about this game just screams quality. It is actually better than I expected.

Yeah, but go ahead and do it anyway. Why's it so good? Does it feel like a Mario game, or more of a hybrid between Mario and Nights? Is there a LOT of flying, or is it mostly just good old platforming?

The one thing that I can say, I haven't gotten too far into it, is that the sound effects and music are simply amazing. The sound effects are crisp and the animation is fluid. Just wait till you see it in action on your TV. I don't think that YouTube or IGN videos can do it justice, but then again when can they?

I haven't had the problem that other people were talking about when it comes to picking up the star bits. It's intuitive and second nature and it actually makes the game fun. Walking upside down on a planet is a trip. No there isn't much flying, mostly just platforming. It is easy to get stars, but I hear once you get past 60 they are difficult to get, which I think is the way it should be (we don't prefer the Sunshine difficulty do we?). First impressions are that it's a great game, and now I don't hate my Wii as much anymore.

Hopefully Nintendo will break with tradition and make yet another Mario for the Wii.

Star bit collecting/aiming is second nature now.

It just took a bit of getting used to since it was something I hadn't done before.

I'm about 25 stars in and even though I like Sunshine more than the average gamer seems to, I think Galaxy is shaping up to be the true successor to 64.

From the moment I heard the SMB3 battleship theme, I knew I was in for a good time.

The level design is fucking cool, the controls feel natural after about 15 minutes, and after spending an hour I am going to rush through my homework so I can get back on this wonderful game ASAP. It has been eleven years since a Mario game really sucked me in, but here it is, at long last. As Average Joe said, this is the REAL successor to SM64.

This game is fucking insane. I nearly shit when I hit the shrub, watched it stretch in such a elequant fashion to kill the flower.

Spinning up the vines made me stare in wonder too.

This game has sooo much finesse. I cant believe it.

12 stars and 4 hours in

I cant get enough of this game. I love how they brought back some SMB 3 sounds and scenery, as well as some great new music and levels. And, of course, they brought back the invincibility stars....:buttrock:

Incredible game.

This game.....

is off the f#ck!ng chain!

the SMB3 battleship theme at the beginning, how they threw in different aspects of SMB1, 2,& 3, the challenge of having to walk upside down on planets and walk on walls, its just amazing. ive been sitting here watching 68k play it for well over 2 hours now and it just never gets boring. one of my favorite things i how they brought back the star, its always nice to be invincible for those 15 seconds or so.

I was almost regretting my decision towards choosing a Wii as my console of choice, but wow.. This is superb and totally justifies the purchase.

Same scenario here with TRU, went there 5pm, only got 7 copies and the clerk said they will be in tomorrow. If the games (preorders) don't arrive tomorrow you'll have a lot of people ready to sh!t on the floor.

The problem with TRU is they're offering $25 Gift Card.

About 8 stars in. I could play this game for hours. This baby will get some attention this weekend.

Got the $25 gift card and bonus coin without a hitch, suprisingly. The bonus commemorative coin package is pretty slick too. TRU ftw. :)

Game's awesome. Only played it for a little while. I have to go to bed, like right now, so I stopped playing quickly. Otherwise, I know I probably wouldn't have stopped playing for some time. Can't wait to spend some real time with this thing.

Also, the visuals in this game are a sight to behold. Aboslutely fantastic. By far the best graphics on Wii.

From what I saw, yes. After you get the 60 stars and you want to beat King Koopa you can go back and replay some of the stages as well as some new ones that show up.

Somebody on IGN was having a live feed video cast of his Japanese version and he said he beat the game but was going for all of the stars. He said time and time again, it was worth getting all the stars because the challenges and the extra stages were a lot of fun. Watching it just looked awesome.

I know five bucks my Toys R Us is going to be fucked. I knew I should have went in there yesterday before I went to Van Halen to pick my game up, but I though..oh I have a pre-order AND I work there, they'll hold one for me. But knowing them they may have given away the pre-orders and the gold coins...

When I went to pick up the game I got one of the last two copies, and I went there about lunch time. I would have been pissed too if I didn't get one.

BTW, about the gift card, did anyone catch when exactly the gift card expires? The guy who sold me the game said something like, "You want to use it by the end of this year, since this is a promotional offer."

I really like this game so far, except for one thing: Mario's main attack is not jumping. I guess that's the one thing I really miss from 2D platform games in general - your most effective weapon/tool for survival was based on the timing and aiming of your jumps.

Also, being left-handed, I find myself always putting the Wiimote in my left hand and the nunchuk in my right. It's hard as hell to control character movement with your right hand when you've done it with your left hand for 20 years... Maybe I should switch. :lolz:

Is the 2 player mode simply having one person use the remote while the other uses the nunchuk?

I've been watching this game be played, and damn does it run smooth. The bouldergeist is a really clever idea. I may buy a Wii just for this game.

(That wouldn't be possible, because then Mario couldn't jump, but I digress.)

It's better than that:

1p controls the game as normal, while 2p uses a second remote that can do everything 1p's remote can PLUS if 2p holds down the A button you can (to a limited extent) manipulate certain objects (e.g. Hit those rubbery bushes)

It's a little disorienting at first to have a second, similar cursor on the screen, but after you get used to it 2p can really help you out by collecting things/stunning enemies while 1p focuses on getting through the level. I played 2-player mode with my girlfriend for about an hour last night and it was a blast, on both ends. It's nice that 2p can jump in and out whenever.

...

And as for jumping, it's not like it's GONE. In fact, sometimes it's the better option, since you get a coin (which can heal you, of course) instead of the star bits.
