Shipping, at least in canada.

I believe they are just hoarding it in the back though.

Mad stoked for this... Trying to fight the urge to give in to the dark side (that is, the urge to buy Guitar Hero III) because it will mess up my gaming budget for the next couple weeks. Will be gaming this thing hard, no matter what though.

hehe me too. I might have to wait a few days. I have spent boatloads of money for stuff in my collection. Trying to finish it off by the end of the yr.

Shipping is killing me for a game here and a game there. Jesus christ.

Well my Toys R Us will NEVER break a street date, but I'm going to ask and make sure they got them in today and ask if they'll hold a copy with the free coin. I'm going to the city on Tuesday so I won't be able to pick it up till Wednesday.

Yes, as I said, Toys R Us will NEVER break street date on a major release game. I already asked them if they'll hold a copy for me on Wednesday so I'm covered. If they didn't get the game in last week, they SHOULD have it after 5 on Tuesday, if not their going to have A LOT of angry people.

It's entirely unfair that I was sent on a 2 week business trip the day this game is released. :blow_top:

Yeah, but go ahead and do it anyway. Why's it so good? Does it feel like a Mario game, or more of a hybrid between Mario and Nights? Is there a LOT of flying, or is it mostly just good old platforming?

There's this weird feel to it where everything is so unique and different and yet at the same time it feels so familiar and instantly recognizable.

Gameplay is what you would expect and not expect.

The gravity and the way you move around "planets" should be confusing/disorienting, but thanks to the controls and for the most part solid camera work, it makes for an experience I don't think I've felt in a game yet.

Controlling Mario is basically second nature to anyone who's played his other 3D incarnations, although pointing and aiming the star bits takes a little bit of getting used to.

Graphics are the best on the Wii yet, but hardly comparable to stuff you'll see on the 360 or PS3, but I don't think I even needed to say that.

Probably, the most surprising thing is the sound.

The orchestral work is beautiful and really adds a ton to the overall atmosphere that the game was already oozing with to begin with.

What I've done so far has been mostly platforming, but after reading the manual, it seems there's the occasional break from the standard gameplay with interesting little side games/racing/other things; but I haven't gotten there yet so I can't comment.

I have gotten far enough to be able to safely say that this game may just make up for the year or so of boring Wii releases.

BEST WII GAME EVAR!

Super Mario Galaxy is the best game on the Wii (although Wii Sports beats it in terms of replayability, SMG is the most fun), and is probably the best platformer I've played since Mario 64.

I'm already about halfway through it :emb:

QFT. The physics engine is easily the best part of the game -- probably the best I've seen in any game -- and definately is not like anything I've ever seen before. The closest thing I can think of is Gravity Man's stage in Mega Man 5. This briliant aspect of the gameplay could have easily been ruined by poor controls and camerawork, but Nintendo pulled it off beautifully.

It's fun to do a running jump off of a platform with gravity, only to get pulled to the other side.

There are, and they're a nice change of pace, but so far none of the ones I've played have been as good as the regular platforming levels. There was one "mini-game" (for lack of a better term) in particular, a super-monkey-ball-esque level, that I didn't think was especially fun. The controls were too sensitive, making it easy to fall off the level's edge unless I went really slowly.

Other comments:
-The "co-op" mode is fun, especially as 2p can jump in at any time.
-Being able to pick up star pieces by pointing at them (while running/jumping or whatever) was disorienting at first, but quickly became second-nature.
-It's absurdly easy to get extra lives

So far my only criticism is that the game is a bit easy, but hopefully the challenge will pick up as I progress.

(And why is the release date later some places? I picked mine up at gamestop on Monday the 12th)
