Earlier, I went to Walmart(Best Buy is next door) & saw that people were already camping out in front of Best Buy. I saw a couple of the campers talking to some guy & they shuck hands. At that point, the campers left(but they're tent was still there) & then that dude was standing next to the tent. I decided to ask him about it and he said they are paying him to hold their place so they could go home & shower/proper meal/etc...

WTF!?!?. Any of you guys offering your services to?

It wouldn't surprise me to see on the news in the next few days that someone beat the fuck out of these assholes.

People got to realize. For most people, the best deals are online. I mean, I guess part of it comes down to how much you think your time is worth per hour. I guess it works out okay for someone in minimum wage retail. But for everyone else, the time wasted, multiplied by aggravation, a lot of stuff is going to work out about as cheap finding a good online Black Friday deal.

why don't they go home and shower one at a time and then spend that money inside the store?

Because they lack the requisite intelligence required to make a rational economic choice.

Most if not all the stuff they have dirt cheap is junk anyway. Waiting countless hours for a POS TV isn't worth it.

Yeah, you'd figure paying someone to stand in line for you would eat into any perspective savings quite a bit. Madness.

I think at a certain point it becomes less about getting the cheap POS TV, and more about getting to brag to family, friends, coworkers etc.. that you were able to get said pos TV. As retarded as that sounds..

This thread's title is the best thread title to ever be viewed by going to the main forum page, bar none.

Saw some people camping out at my local best buy.

I did envision driving my car up on to the curb doing 70+ MPH and ending their holiday shopping season early.

Then I saw that they looked pretty fucking cold and thought to myself "good."

Do you think best buy pays people to "camp" out in front of their stores? Maybe as a seed to get other people to follow along. Can't help but wonder if they hire someone to get the trend going...

I got to doing some thinking and I'm convinced that the best way to make money off people in black friday lines is to rob them at gunpoint.

I went to best buy once on black friday. Not in the night line, but at about 7am when it opened at 4am or something. It was packed and the line took about 30-45 minutes, but I got some blank media packs (75 blank dvd's and 25 blank cd's per pack) for $2 each. That's a good deal, imo.

$200's for a 42 inch crappy tv is a good deal for someone who will never spend $1000+ on a TV and has an old 25" tube tv at home. An upgrade, even if the TV isn't "great", it's great to them.

Agreed. If you're an old person who just watches TV, or not a techic, or fuck, even a strictly old school gamer, it doesn't matter and that would be good enough for you.

Duf's post made me LOL. I had to read it out loud to my gf as she's slaving over the turkey.

Like STK said, most of the best deals are online. Take out the taxes, free shipping on Amazon, and most anything related to gaming will be matched and easier to obtain.

My time is worth more to me spending Friday relaxing, playing some games, and chilling, all while occassionally refreshing Amazon.

Seems like there are more & more people these days that just want to wait in line for stuff period. Either they want to feel like they are part of some kind of "event" and or want to show how "hardcore" they are about whatever. :oh_no:

If the product or event is actually worth it is just icing or a good excuse to tell "ordinary" people.

I just got back from Wal-Mart and people were already lined up across the store to get a $99 Wii.

I went in there for cat food and garbage bags, but landed up buying a portable tire pump and plug kit.

I hope you enjoyed hearing about my shopping experience.

It's too bad they don't put neo carts on Black Friday deals.

Nobody has been posting in the War Room for the past hour and a half. Maybe people are just lining outside of some shop waiting to trample over some clerk at the moment? XD
