OK, I'm sure I'm not the only one here and Bobak will probably concur with me but I sometimes find that my mind and then my hands move faster than the game can handle.

I'll see a chance for maybe a 20 chain I'll do the joystick movements and button presses, but I seem to be going to fast for the game.

So DO you have this problem sometimes?

I sometimes wonder if my controllers aren't working properly.

yes, the game actually does have a little slowdown at points.

Hell, yeah. Sometimes I throw the combo so fast, the two go off simultaneously and only count for one.

That REALLY annoys me, especially when I'm going for a full screen clearance. The worst part is sometimes I'll move 7 spaces across but because my joystick movements were so fast, the game only recognises 2 or 3 moves

Apart from that... it's the perfect puzzle game.

One of the quirks of the Neo Geo hardware is its interface. If you'll notice on fighters like Kof, Garou and Aof3 if you slow your mind down a bit and go with the flow of the processor you'll be successful.

That said, MD3 does indeed slow down when many chains are forming and being linked. In particular with games like garou, it is easy to rapidly pull off motions and get yourself owned in the process. In which case, you have to slow your brain down and make decisions instead of rapidly spamming and seeing what'll happen.

saturn version

I never played MD 3 in tis pure form NEO-GEO .
However ,I own the Saturn version and I too have this problem.
I think that makes it a perfect port, it has all the good and bad portions

I have that happen a lot. Anytime I'm in the zone cranking out combos, it seems to do it. Especially of the other person is doing the same.:buttrock: I don't really mind it though I've gotten used to it, also it helps to make it a little easier thinking of future moves.

I've never blamed a versus loss, but I have definitely blamed, yelled, screamed, kicked the machine for screwing up my attempts to topple superfamifreak's top scores. I can get in his ballpark though.

Just curious, I was looking at famifreaks scores myself - what setting are those at? Japanese, Euro, or North American? also what difficulty?

ive got the same problems you guys mentioned in md2 on cd/z. besides i was playing the game in the wrong way, till my lil brother & my lil nephey skoold me in this. i was always trying to get as many colors to bust at the same moment, while it was really combo based ( to get the lines to come down), thats why i thought you guys where fucking monster complaining about the speed of the game. now ive got the same problems.

I can testify from playing other good players at this game that there is definitely a limit as to how quickly you can play this game. If you have 2 players playing at a high level, it's not the movement speed that will determine the winner, but rather the amount of mistakes that occur.

I kinda like the game from that competitive standpoint.

Out of the neo geo people around this area, I would say that SamshoSensei and I are probably the best at this game, but when we play each other it seems like we inevitably split wins and losses. This is probably due to just a limit in how good the game can be played.

Still one of my favorite neo titles.

MVS 4 Slot
Level 4
Original Euro bios - Wish I had a Japanese bios JUST so I could hear the gay emperor!

Same way I play all my games apart from Neo Drift Out & KoF96

That's how I play --although language/version makes no difference.

Just the system default on my system.

I think that's how it should be played for challenging the high score.

If our genes were spliced together there would be the ultimate MD3 player... the person who could actually topple Black Pierrot on the first try.

I find that at home or in the arcade, I end up outrunning the game quite often, either having two things go off at the same time because i went too fast, or trying to take a step sideways to do a pickup and dragging back what i just released instead. I didnt have the problem quite so much in the saturn version though.

It just annoys me as I see all these reactions going off in my head but my hands and the game won't co-operate!

that, and it's very hard to make rhyme or reason out of how you nail the highest of the time bonuses in CPU vs. rounds.
