To Punjabee,
I hate to tell you but you've got a lot of nerve saying that it is fact that Robotech is better than Macross. Everyone knows that Robotech is a butchering of Souther Cross, Genisis Climber Mospeada and SDF Macross which is NOT the way that the ORIGINAL creators desired. Harmony Gold has done far more damage for animation than it has helped especially in the case of Macross. Why do you think Gundam hasn't been released in the US till recently? Because Sunrise didn't want to see their Gundam series get butchered and destroyed like Macross did. We should have had Gundam 0079, Gundam Zeta, Gundma ZZ, V Gundam etc. much sooner and if those idiots an Harmony hadn't been assholes, we'd have a whole lot more of the cooler shit in the US. You're entitled to your own opnion but SDF Macross is much better than the butchered first season of Robotech. I have seen both and a lot of the meaning and significance is lost in the Robotech version. I wonder, do you even know what the meaning, story and significance of Macross is? Did you ever figure out what message Macross was trying to present?

Yes, but you forget.. Gundam sucks anyway. I have a lot of nerve because I'm honest, and I'm right. As for what Ma-ku-roz was trying to present, who the hell cares?

Watched it. It was lame.
Watched Robotech. It rocks.

You make me laugh.

Just a few posts ago you were harping on me for not taking the time to read the books and all that bullshit so I could "understand" Robotech, claiming I didn't like to read. Now you have the nerve to say "As for what Ma-ku-roz was trying to present, who the hell cares?" So you harp on me for not understanding Robotech, then admit you won't even try to understand Macross? And correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't there not much changed between Macross and the Robotech: Macross Saga? So then basically this means you are saying that the Macross portion of Robotech sucks? The only big difference is that they changed Protoculture into a tangible (the green goo, which you never see in the Macross portion of Robotech anyway) and in Macross where it was more of an idea over something physical. That's it. That's basically all that changed, besides the English language being spoken, songs being changed and the elimination of a few bits of animation here and there (like Minmay's bare ass because, well, it's a bare ass and American children can't cope with bare ass  )

Macross is also not the series that had Minmay single handedly defeat the Zentradi with singing either, THAT was Robotech: The Macross Saga. In Macross it's Protoculture that defeats the Zentradi, not Minmay singing. And as I already stated Protoculture is more of human culture, feelings and so on, of which Mimay's appearance and singing voice are but a small piece of.

Are you also saying all the Gundam series suck? You do realize that without the original Gundam there would likely be no Macross, thus no Robotech?

WORD!

*And until BANDAI went and got Bishojo stupid on me, making the characters look like faggots and even whoreing out the franchise... Mobile Suit GUNDAM is much more involved than SDF Macross will ever be. It actually touches on levels that are felt in the real world. Politicial/Social problems between two factions... on the colonization level, Earth wants to keep absolute rule over everyone, then you've got the ZEON who want to break away and govern themselves and went to extreme measures to be heard/felt. Thus they're always seen as the "Evil" ones. {Yes I always sided with Zeon}, whereas MACROSS merely had to defeat the cliche' ALIEN INVADERS.

...however, both are good entertainment. GUNDAM within the U.C. Calander does not suck, though Armored Trooper VOTOMS walks all over it in terms of overall scope, along with it's spin offs and direct OVA sequels... it just doesn't get the love it deserves due to it's purposely "Ugly" mecha and ballsy political/religous/spiritual overtones, complete with the main character basically killing the idea of GOD, and then later assassinating what would be the Pope of an Intergalactic Catholic-esque church.

I guess I just have to live with my lot then. I don't like the crappy, more popular series.

I guess that makes me crazy. Whatever I guess. I'll go back to watching the better series. Robotech.

How can the series be crappy when the first 1/3 of Robotech IS basically Macross?

Quick question about the DYRL movie.

I found 2 versions on eBay. One is the "Perfect Edition," the other isn't.
Is the PE the unedited version? I don't want to accidentally buy the "Clash of the Bionoids" super edit version.

To anyone that bought the Animeigo complete set....

Did everyone get the same hologram card?

I'm curious about this myself, as I had never heard of any "PE" version on DVD. The very first version I ever owned was Clash of The Bionoids, then later a 3rd Generation VHS of the fan subbed DYRL movie... then in the late 90's a legit fully-uncut English Dubbed version was put out on VHS, and as of now I own an Ever Anime edition on DVD, that I assume is a GDVD, but as far as I know there is no R1 of it and the R2 isn't subbed. The one I have is the same original duration as the fan subbed and un-cut English dubbed... so I don't know what more would make the DYRL Movie "Complete". Are you sure it's not a 2-disc set? Might be extra stuff tacked on.

Is someone at any point gonna tell me about Macross 7 :tickled:
I've never seen it. It's one of those licenses that has been tough or impossible to obtain due to licensing the show and the various songs in it. So I can't help you with M7.

Check this link and see if it may answer whatever your question is.

Speaking of Gundam though, I spied the Zeta Gundam DVD box at Media Play today....SWEET CHRISTMAS is that thing huge! :loco:
I have the Zeta box. One thing everyone has pitched a fit about is the fact that the opening and ending songs have been changed. There is a problem with licensing the themes evidently, as the Korean version of the show had the same issue.

The box has a 10 disc thin pak box set, the rest of the box is filled with Gundam pencil sharpeners. Interesting stuff.

To Baseley09: Watched Macross 7 and Macross 7 Dynamite OVA. They are all in all an ok series. Dynamite is much better than the TV series. The TV series gets a bit supernatural in that the enemy this time is not anymore near human. It's a long series too. I'd say if you're a macross fan then its worth watching. I will warn you that the show gets a bit repetitive at times. Macross Zero on the other hand is a very cool OVA. It's a well done OVA.

I just got the zeta Gundam box set as well. Rather excited to watch it since it's prolly the best Gundam series yet. I've watched parts of it and it's like the "Empire Strike Back" of Gundam. I hear V Gundam is also a very good gundam almost on par with Zeta Gundam. Anyone know anything about it or know if it'll be release in the US by Bandai?
