Lie Hou Arcade - Shanghai

Bit of a field report for any Neo fans who are ever in Shanghai. Im here at the moment for work and had some time to kill so checked to see if there is anything in the area, wasnt expecting much tbh besides a few knock off cabs, how wrong was I, This place is worth checking out! There are about 50 or 60 legit versus city / blast city cabs set up. At least 20 of them with king of fighters 95, 97, 98, 2002 a couple of Samurai shodowns, some puzzle bobble too. The place almost feels like it is stuck in the late 90s. The neo jingle is going on all around you, fair competition to play against too.

Also at least 10x street fighter 2 ce's, Also 3rd strike and 4. Also at least 15 cabs for shmups, lots of cave, stikers 1945 etc.

Costs virtually nothing, handed the attended 15 yuan (about $3) and got 30 tokens worth of credits, 1x credit a game, dont know how they keep the place running!

To get there, go to the Majestic theatre, it is in the building across the road on level 4.

KoF 98 is so huge in that part of the world it's nuts. And China/Korea is also one of the only places that still plays SF2CE. Very cool, wish I could check it out sometime.

I just went for another look, actually there is over 120 versus / blast citys! 10 Daytonas and 8 initial D's too. Was a lot more busy when i just went back now. I just cant believe how popular king of fighters 97 / 98 is here. At least a 1/3 of the cabs are just dedicated to those. Hardly anyone was playing the street fighter cabs.

Hardly any ticket games, only a few music games. Pretty awesome.

Yeah i was there pretty early. Went back later and there were a lot more people, probably 20 or so.

Yeah all great games from the 90s, all it needed was a MOTW and Last Blade and it would have been pretty much perfect.

been there twice on my travels too, best arcade in Shanghai for sure.
Such random that KOF'97 has like 20 vs-cabinets why 97?!

They have Tekken TAG 2 machines too, 4 cabinets. And on weekends and most evenings the place is crowded and you can get a lot of matches going on with local champs.
