One game from the creator of beatemups, Technos, that gets overlooked/unheardof is "Shadow Force". Well made. It's possible to beat on 1 credit (always a plus for me when I look at beatemups), had a good amount of moves, a branching path here or there. I'd say it's aged a little bit better than other than other beatemups of its era.

Yeap shadow force is a great beat em up, picked up a copy almost 2 years ago. Great concept being able to morph T1000 style into your enemy and assume their move list.

Punisher and cads & dinos is another great beat em up, why is a cads & dino boards so rare. I have owned 8 copies of the punisher, 6 copies of warriors of fate, a damn near infinite number of slam masters but I have never owned more than one copy of cads & dinos

Metamorphic Force is enjoyable.
Fast-paced.

Double Dragon is still my favorite beat 'em up.
Ever.
I know; I'm a dinosaur.
Even though it predates any real combo system, you can still have fun putting stuff together.
Punch, kick, turn around, spinning back-kick.
Punch, punch, punch, headbutt.
It's fun, and pretty gritty at times.
I enjoy kicking knives out of the air, or having your partner hold a guy in a full-nelson while you slam a baseball bat across his stomach.
The NES version is great in it's own right, but I still love the original.

I know, I'm probably the only one.
