Hola guys,

So the last feedback thread I did, it happened to be for the same dude… our resident & tireless modder, Lemony Vengeance.

So, what did Lemonballz do this time? I think some of you have already seen his Jamma360 box (v2) but in case you haven’t, here it is. I’m one of those guys that enjoys the older Shmups primarily but I do enjoy playing some of the newer Cave games and ports from time to time. However, I don't want to drop hundreds on multiple Cave boards. I’d simply rather play the Cave port. However, what I don’t like is playing the 360 ports on my widescreen plasma. So much waisted real estate on the screen when the game is intended to be played on a vert cab.

Enter, LEMONY’S MAGICAL BOX.

So, this thing is great. Plug and play, took only a couple minutes to snap the Jamma harness on and plug in the 2 USB controller cables. All the buttons are mapped etc. etc. I’ll let him comment on the details but I definitely wanted to commend his hard work and dedication once again. I definitely recommend this to anyone else that may be on the fence on these. Thanks LV!

Teddy

PS - It’s a minor detail but it’s great being able to pause a game like a console on your cab for a quick break. :D

Dude that looks awesome! Do you know if LV can make the same device but for PS2/3?

Yes. As long as you have an adapter to get ps1/2 controllers to work with your PS3, I can make something for you.

I'm working on K-2's J-Genny, but I'll post deets in a bit :D

**EDIT: the DEETS!**

Thank you for the good write up, Teddy! I said it in the video, but man, the MS9 is TRULY the best arcade monitor on the planet! The colors just POP! It's part of the reason why I have upgraded the box to v2.5. It has an improved video circuit, as well as a switch in the volume knob that turns the power to the video circuit off for use in High Def (31 KHz) cabs! Just turn the knob til it clicks and you're good to go for controls only!

I've also started numbering the boxes I sell, as I sell them. No, not like kof2002 AES stuff, this way I can track who has them for support and warranty purposes. Teddy's is #0003.

He wanted a special button mapping, especially for his E2 (2l8b), but also wanted to have all buttons available for the blast (2l12b), so I mapped them like this:

--------1-2--3--4
JAMMA_A-B--X--Y
CPS2___Y-RB-RT

I'm sure that K-2 and Teddy will agree.. There's no better way to play the Arcade games on consoles the way they were MEANT to be played. At a cab.

also:

Enter LEMONY’S MAGICAL BOX.

sounds like a sleazy porno.. a skinimax flick ;)

Quick question for Lemony, on these new versions that have scart outs, can I still use the VGA as an option? Just wondering if I were to swap this from astro to blast. What looks better, a hires game in VGA, or over scart in 15khz?

Very badass Teddy! No Futari-BL pic?

"Scanlines, gooood for shmups."

"hey I put the harness on upside-down and now it doesn't work, what gives.."
That was me... (my fault) :crying:

Yes, you can. I have added a switch to cut power to the video circuit so you can swap between 31 KHz and 15 KHz The Jims were the first to get this feature. You will fry the controllers if you put the harness on upside down, but not the video/audio circuit, so there's that ;)

Just dont do it again. ESPECIALLY if you have company over :P

There is a 3rd option:

31k w/ SLG.

I'll take pics, for the sideXedis comparison, once my box arrives.

@ KGB- where are you getting cave games for hundeds, lol. I'm hundeds in, just for the ports. ;^)

Please correct me if I'm wrong... I thought the 360 only output an interlaced image (not real/true 240p) in 15khz/Scart (like Dreamcast).

Is the scart input EU or JPN?

While it's not pure 240P (you'll need to get a UVC to downscan it to that since the lowest the 360 does 480i), it looks damn good. especially since the MS9 is an interlaced monitor.

EU scart. I can special wire it for you if you would like. I know how you've been fence sitting on that Saturn box for nearly 18 months now.......

What would happen, if you pluged 360 VGA lead into a capcom I/O? Do you get 15k 240p, ala naomi then?

That's an interesting thought. I wonder what would happen. I imagine it would work.. I'll give that a test tonight.

Your boxes are on their way :)

I haven't used the Capcom I/O personally... But I can tell you the Sega I/O isn't a converter, the Naomi itself sets the video mode with a dipswitch (#4). Short answer, No.

That switch is for 15k/31k...but I didn't realize it controlled p vs i as well. When I ran ikaruga in 15k on my Aero, (thru the capcom I/O) it looked like 240p neo games on my supergun.

I'm not arguing that I'm right about the capcom I/O...I'll admit that I just don't know. I'd love someone w/ empirical evidence (one way or the other) to weigh in.

wataru330: Your original thought was correct... It only controls the video (15khz/31khz) mode, the Naomi always outputs in progressive (unlike the Dreamcast which only outputs 31khz in progressive). The only thing I didn't know from above is what LV said about the MS9 (its only interlaced). I didn't expect that, but it makes me really happy I don't own that CRT if that is indeed the case.

Thanks skate, makes me wonder if any 360 games support 240p? Which was the original question behind this tangent... Sorry to jack your JAMMA box thread LV.

For thos of you who don't know... Lemony makes some of the nicest padhack boxes on these forums! I personally own one of his Dreamcast boxes, and its given me hours of trouble free enjoyment.

Does this mean my early proto version made famous in the video has tripled in value?

I need a new insert and certificate of authenticity lv.
