what can I say, I'm looking forward to it. From what I've seen from the screens of the chara select menu, it seems like a very, uhm, conservative roster, and that's fine with me.

Who's the third Kyokugen team member, btw?

Haven't made up my mind about the graphics style/backs yet, most of the screens posted so far are too blurry anyway.

Thing is - AW kits are so damn expensive atm, so a port (should there be one) will have to suffice I guess...

Damn, they say "new KoF", and my bum starts to tickle, just can't help it... :D

I always get excited over the promise of a new KOF, and this is of no exception.

The location reports that have been coming in are sounding promising so far, but I'd certainly feel more comfortable about judging the game until some decent screenshots and movies start to float around. I'm not too surprised about the sprites, since I wasn't expecting them to be redrawn or anything, but I'm a bit saddened by the similarities to the '03 engine.

I like '03, a lot, but I feel like I had my fill of its gameplay mechanics in that game and really don't feel like it's something I'd get much enjoyment out of in another.

It seems understandable though, since NW used a modified '02 engine, it would stand to reason that SNKP would milk '03's engine for their next AW release.

And although this is an obviously minor complaint, I don't like seeing Roman numerals in a KOF title, it just seems really out of place and off.

There will be ports PS2 for definate, Xbox with Live proberbly some montshs after, have'nt they said this about NNGBC anyway. Hopefully it'lll apply to KOFXI.

I still have'nt go tused to calling it XI when i talk about it i keep calling it 2K5 :tickled:

Is everyone happy that they have stuck with the Tagging system or would you have liked to see it go back to 3 on 3 or strikers again? Maybe even something completely new?

An Xbox port with online support would be very cool.

IMO, the tag system isn't too shabby, I quite like doing crazy tag combos and stuff like that. Something new would have been nice, but there are only so many possibly setups, 1 on 1, 2 on 2, 3 on 3, tag system, strikers, ..? Perhaps a bigger team would have been cool, maybe with a 5 on 5 setup, that would also lead to longer, more intense matches.

It's way too early for me to be making any judgements regarding KOF XI, so in the meantime, I'm going to make up a few stories for teams that'll probably never show up. Please bear in mind that the following is a complete work of fiction, and as such, should not be taken seriously in any way, shape, or form.

Fatal Fury Team: Terry/Kim/Tizoc
Their Backstory: Tired of having to look after (and try to reform) his teammates (and having been outclassed by someone the ladies go ga-ga for), Kim decides to take a break and join up with Terry in order to relive his more carefree days. With Kim and Tizoc constantly arguing over justice versus fair play, however, Terry might want to pack an extra-large bottle of asprin...

Art Of Fighting Team: Ryo/King/Yuri
Their Backstory: Having been given his own reality show (called "The Associate", in which 16 eager young business partners compete for the honor of being called the Garcia Foundation's "Associate"), Robert says "smell ya later" to Ryo and Yuri, who ultimately pick King over Kasumi as their teammate (since she has her own car).

Burning Ambition Team: Shingo/Kasumi/Malin
Their Backstory: Shingo forms his own team in order to prove to Kyo that he can lead his own team to victory. He is joined by Kasumi (who wants to prove to the Art Of Fighting team that she's a worthy adversary) and Malin (who wants to prove to [her sister??] Hinako that she's far better than her and that "her fat ass doesn't belong in KOF"). However, both of them harbor a secret crush on Shingo. Torn between two potential girlfriends, will Shingo be able to make it out of this tournament in one piece?

Psycho Soldier Team: Athena/Kensou/Momoko
Their Backstory: Look out, all you wannabe posers! Here comes Momoko, the loudest, toughest, tannest ko-gal this side of Shinjuku. Will Kensou be able to survive countless shopping trips, endless girl talk, and mammoth cell phone bills?

En Vogue Team: Benimaru/Duolon/Elizabeth
Their Backstory: Low on funds from searching the world over for Ron, Duolon decides to put his good looks and brooding personality to good use in the one profession where both traits matter: modeling. Joining the same agency as Benimaru and Elizabeth, these three are out to take the world by storm (and do it all in serious style).

Southtown Thugs Team: Billy/Yamazaki/Angel
Their Backstory: K9999 is dead, having been murdered in cold blood by a mysterious assailant. Out to find the one who did this to her late boyfriend, Angel forges an uneasy alliance with Billy and Yamazaki in order to discover and disembowel whomever butchered K9999. On Geese Howard's orders, the trio are also assigned to discover the source of the sudden power flux following the events of the KOF '03 tournament. (As for who killed K9999, it was actually suicide; he impaled himself after discovering that Mai was pregnant, and thus, lost his will to live.)

Southtown Secondaries Team: Joe/Duck King/B. Jenet
Their Backstory: Desperate to make the cut for this year's KOF tournament (and not end up on the sidelines like Andy, Mai, Robert, and Leona), Joe strikes a deal with Duck King and B. Jenet to team up in order to get in, kick ass, and have a good time doing it.

Yeah, it's too early to make judgements, but that's not my intention anyway, not at this point where all we know is a bit of chara info and some screens. The loke test reports sound good tho.

The 5-button system is debatable, but I guess that's just cosmetics... 4, 5, 6, who cares as long as it isn't like the Guilty Gear games, I really hate all that extra button schmonzes, at least in the newer ports... turn button, wtf?!

So... are the new/returning charas confirmed yet (Bonne, Eiji, Kensou...)?

Oh, and what's the current asking price for an AW kit?

so many questions...

K.O.F. is H.O.T.

First news of no Choi. Now there's no Chang either?
Surely you'd think Jhun would bring them around. Or at least May Lee for a second TKD team.

I'm still trying to figure out how Bao got passed up on.

The roster has me more confused than stoked. At least their might be an Iori '95 special team image as an ending.

But still... :conf: :conf: :conf: :conf:

Eiji and Duck King in the same KOF is enough to get my attention. Sadly, I fear for what Tak presented, that the game might turn out playing alot like GG. Don't get me wrong, I like the GG series ( except Isuka ), but I don't want KOF playing anything like it.

Aye dfx, long time no see!

Du musst echt öfter mal im gerade wieder getrennten German forum vorbeischauen, kann man nicht mehr mit früher vergleichen, das Forum könnte ein wenig mehr posts vertragen...

Thanks for the link to ArcadeRick (or ArcadeRip as I prefer to call them)... good stuff, but overpriced... ah well, an AW is too expensive for me atm, so it's no big deal.

@yagami_boy, thanks for the roster info. I'm really looking forward to Eiji, Bonne, Kensou and Duck, and I'm glad Chang and Choi are left out. They're not that bad mind you, but given they've been in every damn KoF since 94, it's about time for a break.

Same goes for Bao... I mean... yeah, he's powerful, but he never really fit into the game anyway.

@Abasuto, Isuka is crap IMO, but that's just me. I'm not exactly a fan of the GG series, so I may be a lil' biased here... AFAIK, the 5th button in XI is for LDMs and other supers so I guess it won't be nowhere near as bad as the button nonsense in the later GG games.

I haven't even played NW yet, so I'm not even going to bother getting excited to play this because I sure as hell won't be getting a chance until it's ported (same goes for NGBC.)

Looks interesting so far though, especially the roster.

Some of my old favorites are back in: Kensou (a staple for my team) Kasumi, Kula and Ramon.

Seeing Duck King and Eiji in the roster is beyond great.

B.Jenet is welcomed, but I could name a ton of othe faces I'd rather see instead of her (*cough* Krauser *cough*.)

The new characters seem interesting as well, at least as far as initial impressions from random folks in Japan go.

Seems like it's going to be good stuff, and I'm pissed that I won't be playing it anytime soon.

The game boss (and some pobable spoilers)

As for the boss, we had Adelheid (as mid-boss), and a first KOF female boss, and first SNK boss since Mizuki Rashoujin.

Her design is a cross of Chizuru and Duolon, with pigtails, uses a chain-weapon (like Axl from GG) and Kenpo. I'm not sure if her name was Malka? I'm not sure if she's one of Mukai's buddies (the one who looked like Iori in the silhouette).

Spoilers: Maybe, I had a feeling that in the Ikari ending (although I never saw it at the loke test) the boss tells Ralf, Clark and Whip (IMO, searching for Leona) that their leader is Leona. (somewhat, like what Rock did to Terry in his ending in Garou) "She's one of us now!"
Maybe, Just a theory (I'm probably wrong)...I also predicted the death of Leona at the end of KOFXII.

I had a theory in S-C that the Dragon Spirit is Mizuchi. (because of it's similarities of the legendary Mizuchi (a dragon) and the dragon found in KOF 2000 and 2001's Psycho Soldiers Ending.

as for kof xI , i really hope iori´s gotten redrawn. he wasnt playable at the loke-test, thats a good sing imo.

i can honestly say that KoF03 is a great game to play.

the only thing(s) that make it less than perfect are the few shoddy backdrops, and backgroud animation...

I'm not a huge fan of Ash either...but you can't win with everything, he is an 'alright' character design though...

give SNKP props...it isn't easy to come up with 'cool' shit all the time.

KoF03 = good game

KoFXI = probably gonna be good....gotta get a port though, i'm not spending out the ass for an atomiswave board...gotta love the ps2. maybe SNKP will port them to dreamcast? i can only dream...cast...lol...get it!

i kill me! lol :buttrock:

but in all seriousness, KoF03 is a good game.

SS3 is my favorite NEO-GEO game though.

its like this,

MS3
SS3
KoF03

all threes...i have no problem with that. I also love some AoF every once in a while for good measure.

remember, mods are not gods...and NG.com is bullshit lie .

your friend,

bryan

tell me this KOF XI is KOF2005 ? when will be released ?

No. King of Fighters XI is simply King of Fighters XI. SNK Playmore has dropped the year distinction because it made the games seem old by the time they ported it and the fact that they decided to release Neowave in 2004, instead of another more formal game.
