I just got this game today. It's alright, but the animation is quite choppy. There only seemed to be one frame when Kyo did the Orochinagi.

The graphics are pretty good. They seem to have used '99/2000 sprites, for the most part (with the transparently obvious exceptions of Moe and Geese)

The music is alright, sort of like an approximation of '99/2000 music.

Also, the SDM's are nearly impossible to do, because you have to hit both attack strengths, and one of them is (of course) a trigger.
That said, the Galactica Phantom is ridiculously overpowered in this game, which sort of explains why the SDM's are as hard as balls to do.

It was funny finishing Geese off with that move--he hit me twice, then reppukened me ('96 style), then DOKKAN! I got him.

But, it's a good game. I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Yep, it's Geese.

I'll tell you the funny thing--for all the times I've thrown everything I have at a boss to no avail, it did my heart good to see a boss do likewise to me

Well I heard that Geese is the mid boss... I heard there is 3 new characters (Moe, Geese and the final boss)

hopefully you dont have a capcom bias.
but what do you think would be a better purchase KOF EX or super street fighter 2 turbo revival?

i love both series but i have kof 98 and 99 already so im not all that excited to get a watered down game that i will never really get any competition in (no friends that have gba and like KOF)

Well, I'm not particularly biased in any area, but I'd probably go for KOF:EX. Primarily because it has more characters (even without the strikers, Iori, and Geese, it has 18 compared to SSFIITurboRevival's 16 basic characters), but also because it has many of the more modern niceties of fighting games (evasive rolls, CD attacks, and the like). Also, there's actually a running storyline to it, even though I can't understand it (I can't read their crazy moon language ) What I'd like to see, though, would be a Samurai Shodown collection, perhaps a 2D-ization of SS64II (with sprites, not like Tekken Advance, before I get impaled by WASAAAAAAAAAAAAA~BIIIIIIIII~! ) with Hanma/Karakuri and tattooed Kazamas. ^_^

It's cool. I can see why you would assume this... Sometimes, it's like the whole Ford/GM or PC/Mac (more recently, Windows/Linux) thing. I actually remember both companies' games fondly. SS1 was the first SNK game that really made my jaw drop, though. The first NG game I remember was FF1 (my brother rented the Genesis port a few times), and the first SNK game I remember playing was Athena (that game was actually pretty good). I also have fond memories of wondering who the hell Sheng Long was

Anyway, I'm glad I could help.

Tips:

To play as Iori, beat the game with Kyo's team.
To play as Geese, beat the game with the Fatal Fury team.

Iori seems to play like his '99 incarnation.
Geese is like his '96 incarnation, but his SDM Raging Storm is a multi-hit version of the normal version instead of the cool "pillars of light" version from KOF'96.
