Yeah everything else looks good. I can't be sure because I've only done it once, a long time ago in an arcade. I should try it again soon.

I started playing as Heavy D!, and he's damn cool!
He's fast, strong and have nice combos!
Some combos I use with him:

Heavy D!
(try to use d, d + punch before this combos, they will enhance the power of specials)
Jump with C (2 hits), C, f + A, hcf + C (9 or 10 hits, can't remember)
B, B, B, f + A, hcf + C (need to time the Bs correcly)
Jump with C (2 hits), C, dp + punch, CD (you NEED to d, d + punch before this combo, otherwise the dp + punch won't allow you to hit the enemy before it finishes)
Jump with C (2 hits), C, f + A, qcb - hcf + punch

Well, that's all I guess. ;)

It stands for this symbol: -> , as in sA -> qcf+A ...

We still had the old UBB forum software when this thread was started but the move description/link arrows did not translate well to vBulletin (the current ng.com forum software).

You've found one of the coolest KOF threads EVA. Haha, man it sucks we didn't get any KOF in when we were at the OSC. The two guys that brought the Neo setup are on this site too - magnaflux and The_Chosen_One.

Ok, I know this a combo thread, but I have beeen playing some 98 with a buddy of mine and I can't get past his Chris.

Any pointers on dealing with Chris's CD attack when in the air? Which character has a good priority against it?

What about tips on how to deal with a Yashiro player? :conf:

An 80%er from lil thugges i found yesterday, here goes:
MAX mode, jump in C, start charging db, crouching C, f+D, B, Ryoku Ranbu

(Wont up the combo counter after the B when theyre falling, but they wont be able to block the (S)DM ryoku :))

No its with the Takmeister.

The classic version of this good old Takuma combo goes like this:

jC -> start charging db -> cC -> f+D -> f,b,f+C (17 hits).

soulthug, your version may work against the CPU but probably not against a human player who knows Takuma's basic stuff, you would get sweeped or CD-countered.

Wes still has a link to our openmook site in his signature, it was this thread that inspired us to start working on it but we never finished it because it simply is too labour-intensive (my html sucks, too).

Here's the Takuma-specific entry:

http://vgtab.net/openmook/games/kof98/takuma/main.html

Click on "Combos", there also is a step-by-step combo info for the one I mentioned.

One day the KoF98 part of openmook will be finished... one fine day... :emb:

There's the gameplay glossary.

But here's a quick overview.

Overlay a keyboard numberpad over where the joystick lays.

789
456
123

5 is neutral on the stick.
A qcf, or quarter circle foreward, is dragging the stick from two to six.
A hcf, or half circle foreward, is dragging the stick from 4, down to 1, over to 3 , then up to six in one fluid motion.

A dp, or dragon punch is foreward, down, downforeward or 623. And so forth through the list.

Does that help any?

Joe: (I really love this combo!):
tap A or C rapidly untill Joe punches fastly then when he doesn't hit the "target" press down-forward + A and the fastly press down, forward, down, backward+ A or
down, forward (X2) +A. Its really nice and u can try it in SDM (works best!).
Another one with Joe: half-circle backward+B and then the first SDM written up!
Have fun!:chimp:
