King of Fighters 2003 is a Joke!

My favorite is KOF '96 followed KOF '98 as well. KOF 2003 just doesn't feel the same. I tried giving this game a chance, but it just difficult to enjoy. Characters are so unbalanced, and CPU opponents are quite cheap. On the other hand, I always have a blast playing the older games of the series, and I always find myself going back to them. I don't think this game deserves to have the price tag it has!! I guess for it being one of the last games released for the NG, its understandable.

Your just going to either like it or you won't like it. KOF2k3 was the first of the KOF series that I actually played in the arcade and since I was a big Capcom fan and starting to enjoy the neogeo thats what made me like this game when it came out. This is what made me get into the series, though I haveplayed several of the ports, mainly KOF99 for the PSX but that game was bad in comparison to the neogeo version due to loading times and such.

I find 03 easier to play than the earlier KOF's but I prefer 98 or even 2001 over 2003 anyday.
KOFXI looks much better though.

I don't really mind the tag system that KOF 2003 has. It's good that SNKP brings out unique features in each saga, rather than relying on one thing all the time.

I dislike KOF 03'

I think the main part I hate about kof 03' were the new system of characters!!
I don't like they went away when I almost beat them up!!
And they don't have my favorite 'Kensou'!!
But I like 'Chizuru' of this year though......
And 'Kusanagi' became worse than KOF 02'......
And 'Mukai' was an idiot of the bosses through all the KOFs!!

I just don't see any originately in the new KOF games, especially 2003. Most of the new characters are pretty much similiar among each other or have the same style in looks and appearances.

Kof was a great addition to the series. I am really happy they brought back yamazaki and especially gave him a raging demon( leader move Lp Lp LkFWsp or whatever) and Billy is BACK. yay! in all I was quite pleased with this game.

My main complaint about it is that it's just far too loose but there are a bunch of other things that prevented the game from being really good as well (sloppy AI, forgettable music and backgrounds, balance, etc, etc, etc).

It paved the way for XI just like '99 and '00 did for '01 (though the latter fails in everything but gameplay) so it's not totally worthless in that sense, at least if XI is as good as people say.

I'd probably take any of the previous KOF's over it though.

The shitty 'rubber band' feeling engine reminiscent of SvC killed any wood I could muster. Not even '97 was that loose.

fuck 03, its got some nice things going for it, but its deffenitelly one of the worst kofs ever, along with 94 IMO. me personally i like 95, 97, 98, 2k0, 2k1 and 2k2. 96 is one of the best looking but worst playing kofs ever. 94 plain sucked back in 94, still does today. dont even wanna mention 99, wtf was that all about. 2k0&1 look fugly but play great. 03 looks ugly, plays pretty good but the game isnt all that IMO.

from what ive heard from my lil bro XI seems mad fun, much better than all previous snkp kofs combined. so i think ill like it too, i just dont get all these stupid chara designs. this is somethjing snkp just cant seem to handle, while the old snk always made great, memorable and just plain cool ass characters.

fuck it, i just want sf4 above anything else, a completely new LB, SS, KOF or FF would be a great idea too, though motw2 is the only one i can think of which has a remote chance of seeing a release. sf4 would be perfect though, we really do need some competition again in this gaming branche, since 99 fighting games havent really been improving, in fact its only been goin downhill. lack of competition is what really fucked snk/snkp up, and no gg aint a competitor.

I find KOF2003's graphics interesting. My favorite "style-wise" (not quality) is still KOF98.

The game is kind of odd if you're a hardcore/oldschool KOF player, but it's a refreshing start if you dont like all that 'strikers' crap from previous games.


KOF94, 95, 98, 2002 are still my faves ;-)

Yeah, 2003 was just made bad. It was too easy and it ended too quick! I didn't know you can play KOF in 5.1

I think the PS2 supports 5.1. He may be playing the PS2 port.

EDIT: The PS2 has digital optical audio out anyways and I know Silent Hill 3 does 5.1.

I believe '96 should be a singles competition title like Fatal Fury but what is wrong with '99. I really like that one with the exception being a weak roster.
