I'm talking about the new RE CG movie coming out at the end of December. I watched the whole thing today and basically, it's better than the live-action RE movies, but like Advent Children, the movie is strictly for fans.

- Animation is pretty good. Advent Children is definitely better though. The movements seemed a little stiff sometimes and some faces had that uncanny valley going on. Leon Kennedy ALWAYS looked pissed, which I thought was funny.

- Plot was standard RE fare. Honestly, I was hoping for a little more. It was more of a bad action movie rather than a bad survival horror movie. Characters were kinda flat.

- Leon lost his sense of humor from RE4. I was waiting the whole time for some one-liners, but he never delivered. No "SMALL-TIME" or "SENIOR MOMENTS":spock:

- Claire...really didn't do much in the movie. She got shoved aside for a original character, Angela.

- Movie was a little over than 90 minutes

It's worth a watch if you're a fan of the games. If you come into this not knowing much about RE, the movie is average. I'm planning to pick up the DVD when it comes out.

I saw a preview and I thought the in game graphics of RE5 actually look better than the CG used in the movie.

Pass.

I agree, the graphics of RE5 do look way better. Just because I'm a fan doesn't mean I have to watch every half-ass thing they slap the RE name on and shove out the door, and some lame story with weak animation does not entice me at all.

One day, years from now, you may find yourself at a relative's house for a holiday.
There will be one of Turner Broadcasting's Movie Channels on.
Resident Evil: Degeneration will be aired alongside Double Dragon, Super Mario Bros., Street Fighter, and the Mortal Kombats....

You shall be enticed by morbid curiosity.

Then you. You, yourself, SouthtownKid, shall view this film.

And, maybe... Just maybe, you will purchase a Gerber Life Grow-Up plan for a child, grandchild, or godchild for a low price that includes $50,000 coverage that doubles at age 18!

That pyramid scheme shall help fuel an evil empire of insurances.

And, you shall think back and remember...
"Cobra defeats the Foot Clan."

While you're at it, what color underwear will I choose tomorrow?

I would watch it if it happened to be on right in front of me. I'm not saying I would run from the room la-la-la-ing with my ears covered or anything. I just won't rent or buy it.

Well, I still think it would be fun to watch, if only to satisfy the fanboy in me who in 1998 wished they'd make a full length feature using the (then) astounding CG of the RE2 opening.

But still, I learned my lesson about just running out and buying this kind of thing from Advent Children. AC was a damn good looking movie though. Its getting a Bluray release sometime, I'm tempted to check it out just for the impressive visuals. Maybe after I get done watching it I can hop on GameFAQs and read a "Plot Analysis" guide to help decipher its retarded storyline.

OW. I have a sore throat and you just made me laugh until I started coughing. Jerkface. :spock:

And I don't know about you guys, but I can't see why anyone thought this movie might be "good" in the traditional, filmic sense of the word. The RE series was at best, an homage to (at worst, an outright ripoff of) George Romero's Dead movies, minus the social commentary and decent writing. Even the worst of the live-action movies is better-written than the best of the games (including 4). The games are B-grade schlock horror, and that's being kind.

That said, it's the B-grade schlock horror of the series that I always enjoyed (sure wasn't the gameplay), so I'm likely to check this out.

Don't even bother. Most of that ridiculous "plot analysis" is pages upon pages of fanboy blathering, extrapolating upon the finest possible points from FF7 and its offshoots to try and get it all to make some sort of sense. It's very simple: Advent Children is very pretty fanservice, but it's not a movie at all. It's a series of cutscenes from a game, without the interspersing gameplay to tie everything together. Oh, and with Matrix physics, for no readily apparent reason.

Fook, I thought even the game graphics of RE4 looked better than the CG used in the movie. The trailer didn't get my blood totally pumping, more like PG-13 fare instead of R (nothing could freak me out as much as trying to clear the prologue of RE4 for close to about 50 tries 'cos the guy with the chainsaw kept hacking my head off). And for the entire duration of the trailer, I kept thinking "Zombies on a Plane." It had that kitchy feel to it.

I thought the graphics themselves in Degeneration were quite nice, the problem was with the animation, which was just terrible. I would have preferred the series to continue with this sort of graphical style then RE5's to be honest, but with some fluid movements and lip syncing

At first, I read this and felt a little proud for getting a laugh out of you.
Then, I got to the end of the phrase.
The "Jerkface", combined with the ":spock:" has me baffled.

So, I can't tell if I actually got you to laugh.
Or, if I'm being ridiculed for watching too many Turner Television networks to know just what the commercial advertises.

:emb:

Either way, speedy recovery to you!

Anytime I use the term, "Jerkface," rest assured, it's a Sealab (Murphy) reference. So it's all in fun. We're good. Though you did give me a coughing fit. Jerkface.

Ah.

I always manage to block Sealab 2021 from memory.
Along with it's unintentionally funny source material, Sealab 2020.

Then, most of the shows I liked are gone anywho.

How Aqua Teen Hunger Force has been on for so long I can't figure out for the world.

I would inquire as to what that particular secret of the universe is.

But something deep down loudly tells me that I really, really don't want to know.

I'm sure it's 'cos it's cheap. Cheap + kids will watch anything=ad revenue stream. They're just not interesting in high comedy, that Cartoon Network.

That's why Home Movies didn't last, damn them. I loved that show.

And Sealab 2021 was great when Harry Goz was alive. (Multiple Myeloma... ugh.)

I watched it, it was kinda weak. Leon had almost NO personality and Claire was an afterthought.
