Just got this email - how much of this is actually true?

My senior neighbor sent it to me, along with his mall walking group:

Last year Obama flew in Air Force One 172 times, almost every other day.

White House officials have been telling reporters in recent days that the Democrat doesn't intend to hang around the White House quite so much in 2011. They explain he wants to get out more around the country because, as everyone knows, that midterm election shellacking on Nov. 2 had nothing to do with his health care bill, over-spending or other policies, and everything to do with Obama's not adequately explaining himself to his countrymen and women.

And with only 673 days remaining in Obama's never ending presidential campaign, the incumbent's travel pace will not likely slacken.

At an Air Force-estimated cost of $181,757 per flight HOUR (not to mention the additional travel costs of Marine One, Secret Service, logistics and local police overtime), that's a lot of frequent flier dollars going into Obama's carbon footprint.

We are privy to some of these numbers thanks to CBS' Mark Knoller, a bearded national treasure trove of presidential stats. According to Knoller's copious notes, during the last year, Obama made 65 domestic trips over 104 days, and six trips to eight countries over 22 days. Not counting six vacation trips over 32 days.

He took 196 helicopter trips, signed 203 pieces of legislation and squeezed in 29 rounds of left-handed golf.

Obama last year gave 491 speeches, remarks or statements. That's more talking than goes on in some entire families, at least from fatherly mouths.

In fact, even including the 24 days of 2010 that we never saw Obama in public, his speaking works out to about one official utterance every 11 waking hours. Aides indicate the "Real Good Talker" believes we need more.

Obama has spent over $100 million taxpayer dollars flying around in Air Force One, and probably another $100 million on his entourage. Obama is just another tin-pot dictator living lavishly at the expense of his subjects.

- just wondering if this is true, especially the per hour use of AFO.

Air Force One costs a lot of money no matter who is president.
I'm surprised Air Force One is not used 365 days a year.

No way anyone here knows for sure. Pretty safe bet to say it's real though.

Most people don't realize how powerless a president actually is in America; so calling Obama "another tin-pot dictator" is pretty disingenuous at best if not totally misleading.

With the power structure set up the way it is, Obama is in charge of jack shit: that's why he's flying around making speeches, or going on fishing trips, or calling up Michael Vick and congratulating him on his comeback...dude's got nothing better to do!
He just has to STFU and enjoy the ride.

To borrow (and paraphrase) an analogy from KRS-one, a president is a lot like the owner of a burger king.....He may "run" the place, but he is ultimately responsible to the people who "own" the "franchise".

And the "franchise" in this case would be a multinational conglomerate of large banks, big-oil, big pharma, the defense industry, special interest groups, or any other lobby out there with a set of nuts big enough to freely push their agenda in Washington.

This is how rich people can still rule over the poor in the 21st century: let them think they are free, let them think that they matter.

These are the guys telling Obama what's gonna be on the dollar menu for the rest of us.

Obeezy's just there to put on a smile, serve up some shit sandwiches, and tell us everything is gonna be ok and change is on the way.

America is a business.

BLECCHH

Fucking foxnews kept using the term 'elite effete' then some other word like 'snob' or a synonym. It was awful. A bunch of stupid rich college educated elitists using elitist words to call OTHER PEOPLE elitists and act like they are just the regular salt-of-the-earth joe-sixpack good old normal average everyday run of the mill folks.

I thought about adding 'the folks' to my list of ruined terms too.

Great way to pick out a "pseud" is when some jackass english major flunkie tries to shoehorn fancy words of french origin into their otherwise unremarkable vocabulary.
Like writers for y!news or Metalczar.

Reminds me of that time O'Reilly used the word "milieu" once. I've hated that word ever since.

So wealth and education aside, dressing up moronic dialogue and ideas with fancy words is like slathering chocolate syrup on a bowl of shit....it just makes the whole mess even more offensive and repulsive to digest.

“If you're not a liberal at twenty you have no heart, if you're not a conservative at forty you have no brain.”

I guess that makes those in our 30s moderates. I do have a question, though... Why are all the sharp-toothed democrats so quick to mention what happens on Fox News? Why even watch it if it gets your blood in that much of a boil? Seems like there are plenty of non-conservative-friendly outlets to get your news, yet everyone seems to know what was shown on Fox this evening.

When the so-called conservatives complain about entitlement programs, generally what they're saying it "cut government funding to programs that helps others, but don't cut the government funding that I'm currently using"

We have millions of 70+ year old Tea Party supporters screaming about "cut entitlement", but they sure as hell don't want their Medicare cut.

Medicare/caid accounts for around 500 billion a year in spending, but they'll ignore that and say "cut the 3 billion we're wasting on xx program, it's bankrupting our country."

Those old farts have had 50 years of employment to save for retirement and they retire piss broke. Why ? They never saved a penny, they expect the government to pay their way from retirement to death.

50 years of swapping homes, 50 years of buying new cars, 50 years of pissing away their money, then they have the nerve to call others "welfare suckers".

I think that the cost of fueling up Air Force One is the least of our worries where the gov't spending is concerned.

That $181,757 per flight hour is misleading. If Obama had only flew half the number of hours as he actually did, the figure would roughly double because the total allocated for the budget is fixed. That's the problem with budgets. If you don't spent it all within the fiscal year, you'll be getting less budget for the following year. So you must find some ways to use up all that tax dollar.

I believe he's on the move that much.
He was over here in Texas the other day for a fund raiser for a theater,
I knew about it from the local news,
but it was never reported in the nationwide news level.
