I can't believe what this little guy can do.

A few weeks ago I was debating on getting the F-200 model. After testing it out I decided to look for the black GP2X since I like the joystick feel of the system. As long as you have rechargable 2650 mAh batteries, this thing runs for a long time.

Currently playing Translated Front Mission: Gun Hazard

Yup, it was a pretty nice gem, though some people couldn't get over the digital joystick/lack of D-Pad. The GP2X was discontinued a couple months ago, unfortunately, but I can see software continuing being developed for quite a while. Have you looked at its "successor," the Wiz? Or maybe the GP2X's "spiritual successor," the Pandora (which should hopefully have enough power for full speed OMF2097 via DosBox!)?

what can it do that a psp can't?
GP2X has a much better screen for emulation. PSP's screen may look great for PSP games, but the GP2X screen looks much better when emulating old systems since there seems to be no blur or ghosting at all (you can say that you don't notice any blur/ghosting on the PSP, but the GP2X screen will still then look that much crisper/sharper). It has pretty much the same emulators that the PSP has, with the PSP only really winning with PSX emulation (what the PSP can do that the GP2X can't is play PSP games and have PSX emulation, though I've heard some compatibility problems with PSX emulation; a decent chunk of people don't think PSP games are worthwhile, but I'll have to hand it to the PSP for the PSX emulation). Everything else, I believe, runs faster and better on the GP2X (Sega CD & Megadrive, SNES, MAME, FBA, etc.). Some people also like it for its inherent open nature (and no need for any sort of hack or anything) and more homebrew-focused community (some people like the community better as well, feeling that it contains more mature users). A unique feature was the TV-Out when the GP2X came out, but now the PSP can do that. The two are pretty evenly matched. The GP2X is no longer manufactured, though, so you might want to look at the Pandora if you want something obviously more powerful/superior.

I have both and actually like the GP2x's joystick better than the PSP's control. Charging the batteries on my GP2x takes around 15 minutes when compared to the 1 1/2 hour charge and takes on the PSP.

Both seem to work fine, but the SNES emulator tends to run a bit better on the GP2X. I do keep the PSP around since I've already put all the Neo/CPS2 stuff in there plus PS1 Iso's.

A friend from around here sold it to me for $100 (box, all items, near mint condition) since he now has the F-200 model. You should be able to find one for around $120 max. This is an older model so I'm also taking into consideration that someone would probably sell this for around $100 + shipping. If I'm around I'll bring it to NAVA this month. Joe's got the GP32 model for sale at the store.

I liked it when I owned it but the joystick on it was just awful. I always felt like I was struggling with it when playing games, and not directly controlling the game like you would with a good controller.

Great emulators though, that's absolutely right.
