I fucking love Putin. :buttrock:

Well, if you keep his activities in the Ukraine, his ongoing war against critics and the patronizing of the Russian media in mind when listening to his speech, some of the things he says about democracy and working together for a higher good sound quite funny if you ask me.

It's also interesting to hear the word "imperialism" again in connection with his assessment of the US policy... haven't heard that one in a while from a Sovjet, eerm, Russian prez.

Yeah, quite a bit of what he says is true but most of us knew that before already. The reason why we're in deep shit with our silly war against terror is well known, it's just that neither the US, nor other countries involved in it will stop the downward spiral because there are a lot of interested 3rd parties who profit from it, either politically or financially.

My advice is to take everything Putin says with a large-ish rock of salt. You simply can't trust the guy.

You're right, I should have said I respect him because he has balls and at least he's more transparent than my own president.

That being said, yes he has his own interests in mind and he's still our enemy, but at least he has my respect.

The guy is not that good for Russian people. There is no middle class in Russia. The currency has been devalued to the point that Russian people have less than half now of what they had 18 months ago. And Putin hasn't steered the ship back on course. He's more concerned with his international bad boy image.

Modern Russia is a kleptocracy and Putin is gangster no.1 It's a tribute to the effectiveness of Russian info warfare how many American and central European conservatives perceive him as a good thing.

Imagine if Donald Trump had military training.

Then he's perfectly suited for this country and I'm saying this without any cynicism. Russia is an extremely specific nation, much like reading Bulgakov, nothing is like it seems or what westerners would consider as common sense. With this in mind... de Custine was definitely on to something.

I really don't know anything about him bar the few news articles, I imagine him (Trump) to be a counterfeit version of the so called 'American dream'

It's all shit mate.

I personally don't have a problem with Putin right now either. Yeah he's done some shit, but so have we. A lot of people actually think he is the next Anti-Christ. Which is funny to me. I don't see that at all. I would assume it would be someone of middle eastern descent, IF a next Anti-Christ exists.

I have a good tale about Russia in general, ten years ago, a friends father went there with in an oil company, one day, a man a asked them for protection money, they repilied no way, the next weekend the whole building was bombed with an rpg, luckily they hit office downstairs
