Is there a really consolized Atomiswave?

This is probably gonna be a silly question to most of you, but I have not been able to obtain a definitive answer to this yet:

Is there some way for me to play Atomiswave games as simply as my AES carts?

I know there is AW hardware that you can combine with Superguns, but that's not what I am looking for. I would like a dedicated little machine which can play those AW .....well, carts may be an incorrect term, but they look different than those usual PCBs, right?

If such a thing exists......I'll pulverize it! :D Nah, sorry for this little AOF throwback......I wanted to say, I'd love to have it one day. But what kind of sticks would it use?

Thanks for any help with this!

I see them on the standard auction sites while searching for other things. I have no experience with them though so I don't know how good/bad they are.

I'd stay away from a consolized AW unless you can get one for around $300. The AW library is so small that it isn't worth the money to me. Better to just get a supergun and an AW mobo.

Or just emulate. Still better than supporting bootleggers or spending a lot of money on games that aren't really worth it.

My computer doesn't have a dedicated graphics card, which is why I didn't even try in a few years. There are videos on youtube that seem like it will run just fine as long as have a somewhat decent pc. Some of those videos a more than 2 years old.

I still don't get the hate for the system. There are only a handful of games on it, 13 that you don't need special controls for, but I have them all and almost all of them are really fun games. Hell, I don't even have 13 disc based Xbox 360 games in my collection. I don't know, I like the games. I'm considering doing a consolized setup as well, but only because of space issues. I have more cabinets right now than I know what to do with, especially after picking up an Out Run this week to restore.

Oh and for emulation, Demul works better on a 32bit OS. 64bit chugs like garbage. If you have a Win7 32bit OS with a decent video card, you should be able to pull off decent emulation in 0.57.

Thanks for the suggestions, but emulation is not an option for me. Even the PS2 ports of KOF Neowave, SS Tenka and KOF11 bring me little joy in comparison to playing real AES carts, and that's not the games' fault. I just love playing on the real hardware.

Supergun is not an option either, it's just too complicated for me and I don't want to handle an AW board, having to connect it to the SG and so on.....nah, I would love a real console-experience.

So those red consolized Atomiswaves....I can connect them via RGB or component, and I can plug those Atomiswave game in like AES carts? And play with my old-style Neo sticks?

If so, then I just have to find affordable hardware. Could be problematic, it seems. :)

Well, one could reply this to almost any question ever asked on a forum like this one. :)
I did try to find out about this before and I was not clear if a Supergun was needed or not.

That's 400 too much.

So.....is there a chance I may ever find one for 300$? That I would pay gladly for it. Or are you just expressing disdain for the Atomiswave in general?

Not sure if he was serious. I suspect that he was trying to troll Kenny who always get's shit for his ebay prices.

The least expensive (working) board I could find right now is on ebay and will cost you at least $160 including shipping and import tax. A good encoder would be like $100 shipped, if you're lucky. That's $260 and you'd need a few more parts still. So for $300 you'd have to build it yourself and can't expect anyone else to waste his time. Of course you won't need an encoder, but the ones that are usually for sale at $700 tend to have one built in.

Fujita doesn't seem to have any in stock. Legend has one for $138 plus shipping, customs and 19% import tax.

I may be able to help you out in august. No free time until then.

Just buy the AW mobo, a vogatek supergun and a Neo stick. Everything should come out to about $275-300 shipped.

The problem is, although console gamers and arcade gamers share the same passion (i.e. NeoGeo), their idea of how they want to play the games and how they want the machine to look (I know, I know) are completely different. Some PPL are happy with those forward slotting MVS boards on a cutting board with soldered ports to play their NeoGeo, but enjoy it more on an actual AES.

You can tell a console gamer-type til your blue in the face "just do this" or "just do that" but the truth is, he'll still only want that one thing: a plug n play consolized Atomiswave (for example) you can treat like any other console without all the 'gubbings'. Guess that's why those fancy CMVS' are so popular.

For example, I'd never enjoy gaming like this:

That's exactly what I mean!

All I really want is a console-like Atomiswave....plug n play, as you said. I've looked into the topic "Supergun" before, and as much as I would love to be able to play all those arcade exclusives (huge beat'em up/ brawler fan!), it's just not for me. Sad, I know, but I can't help it.

But it's good to hear that I could at least use my old-style sticks and wouldn't have to buy different ones.

No need for encoders if you have a compatible monitior or TV, it outputs both 15khz and 31khz from its VGA port (RGB S).

Have you had any issues with the fan removed? I've been thinking of modding mine recently to cut down on the noise, but I was just going to do the 4500 RPM fan replacement instead of removing it completely. Does the system get hot to the touch without it? I'm wondering how well the lower RPM fan is going to work, but if you're doing without just fine then I can't see a problem with the slower fan.

He didn't just remove the fan. The whole pcb is missing. Bet it won't overheat like that. ;)

You can't let an AW without fan, it will blow in an hour unless you live in an iglu ;p
The bigger the fan, the less rpm you need and less noise.
