What's going on with it? Legit disc is loading and playing normally except at the end of each hole the background is missing?
I don't know. It's flash cart emulation of CD games, which I just started messing with to get the English translation of SSRPG (and that seems to work just fine). Was kind of hoping the black screen background in NTM was a known issue, but doesn't seem like anyone else has experienced it that I can find. Regular NTM plays fine.

In any case, thanks for the replies everyone. I suspected it wasn't normal normal, but kinda hoped it was maybe normal under certain nuanced conditions like "oh yeah, that happens with rev x.y chip if there's a full moon and your butt is clenched." But it's probably just some quirk with the emulation that's not worth chasing down. English SSRPG works great, and that was my main goal.

The NeoSD Pro? It's known to have issues.

SSRPG doesn't work fine. It will start having sound issues after the first couple load screens.

NeoSD Loader is the best way to play it. Real hardware, and much faster than a CDZ.

The original Furrtek NeoSD Loader stopped being made years ago. The official clones are readily available, and even an idiot like me can install one.

Playing SSRPG at CDZ speeds isn't practical at all in 2026. I can imagine putting up with it in the 90's with no alternatives, but nowadays when we have so many options, it's unbearable.

If you're reccomending CDZ loading speeds for SSRPG, you must not have ever played the game.

The mister is a great tool for playing so many things. CDZ speed isn't fast enough for SSRPG in 2026, so hopefully it will let you set it faster.

Mister 1 - CDZ 0

And that's a wrap, it's been a great Goob Cup 2026 and we hope to see you in another 4 years!

Yeah Alec I'll have to agree with people here, NeoCD is an annoying piece of jank to be dealing with in 2026, even with the Furrtek SD loader. Even I who tend to remain a bit positive about alternative neo hardware eventually moved on from it.
