Is Sync Stripper/Sync Strike really needed in CMVS?

Hi all,

I have tried to build a CMVS with a MV1C.

I have a doubt, is really needed a Sync tripper between the output of Jamma and the VGA Scaler (with 8220 chipset)?

With this Sync Stripper is the image better/smoother?

Thanks a lot!

It is not needed. The Gonbes or GBS-8220 and 8200 RGB-VGA conversion boards are designed to take JAMMA RGBS 15k straight off the edge. Sync Strike/Stripper is more for RGB consoles that only output composite sync from memory.

You can just connect the video output of your MVS to the GBS-8220 and then hook that up to a VGA monitor. It does have some issues though, its not the best picture but definitely playable :)

Thanks for the info mate.

Surely I add a Scanlines Generator.

In your opinion: how can I get a better image without a very price external converter box?

Thanks again!
