It is not needed. The Gonbes or GBS-8220 and 8200 RGB-VGA conversion boards are designed to take JAMMA RGBS 15k straight off the edge. Sync Strike/Stripper is more for RGB consoles that only output composite sync from memory.
You can just connect the video output of your MVS to the GBS-8220 and then hook that up to a VGA monitor. It does have some issues though, its not the best picture but definitely playable
