Is a Mega CD worth getting if you have a Sega CD?

I have pretty much gotten all the Sega CD games I want or can afford. Are there any JP Mega CD game exclusives that are good enough to warrent getting the system? Can you hook a Genesis to the Mega CD and It will work or do I need to get a mega drive? Same questions for pal Mega Drive also. I don't want to burn games.

If you do find some Mega CD games you want, you can either patch the disc images with SCDCONV and reburn them or get a Mega Cart, which will allow you to run the JP or EU bioses on your US Sega CD. There's no need to get an actual Mega CD system.

But really, there isn't much worth fooling with. I got the JP versions of Sonic CD and Panic! but that's about it. I really thought I'd be using my Mega Cart more than I do.

Personally I have two US Sega CD and two JPN Mega CD systems. I'm in love of Mega CD.......a lot of people may think it's a crappy system but I think it's charming........ I like JPN cover art & voice-over more than US ones therefore I trade-in most of my US Sega CD games to JPN version.

#1 Yes...I've had both a Mega CD and Sega CD (actually X'EYE)...I sold the Mega CD as I didn't use it much...(see #2)

#2 Yes...there are good exclusive Jp titles...most are in Japanese so no...unless you understand Japanese, they're not worth it. I can't so I sold my stuff.

#3 No...you shouldn't buy one unless you're a die-hard Sega CD fan (like I originally said)...get a Duo R instead, there's better Japanese games to be found on that system anyway.

If you're really a collector, you'll buy the disc and play a back-up.

SegaCD Conv solves that problem, jackass.

That's what I do anyways.

I own a JVC Wondermega, a ton of games...and I play all the games via emulation on my LT.

I have yet to see anything that doesn't work with the Mega Cart. There may be some EU games that need a 50Hz mod in your Genesis to work right but everything US and JP should be fine. The Mega Cart site reports there are some EA games with problems but since they're a US company anyway, I wouldn't consider their imports worth worrying about anyway.

I just bought a PCE Duo r and thats partly why I am interested in the Mega cd as I am starting to get into the Japanese exclusives or better versions. I was seeing if like the Pc-engine its better in japan. It seems the Mega cart would be the best thing to do. To be honest I was looking for an excuse to get a mega cd or at least explain to my fiance why I have a mega cd and a sega cd. Thanks for the help.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that. My friend's modded Xbox could play disks from any region.
