I love my DX, and it has been great hardware, but Motorola can eat a dick for locking the bootloader. Motoblur sucks. They can't make decent UI's or apps. Let me put vanilla Gingerbread on there for fuck's sake.

I'm probably going back to an iPhone soon.

Aside from all that, Android is destroying all other mobile OS'es in terms of market share.

Man, Steve Jobs looks awfully sick in todays keynote. His voice sounds really weak too, its pretty sad.

I have been using a Samsung Galaxy S phone (Captivate) for the last 9 or 10 months. If I was in the position to, I would kick this piece of shit straight to the curb and get an iPhone 4 on Verizon. I had an iPhone 3G before this and even though it had slower hardware in it, it seemed to work better.

I like the Android OS, but god DAMN if the vendors aren't pushing out glitzy, JUNK hardware. Seems like every month there is a new phone (or multiples) and I can't help but think they aren't actually testing this hardware at all. I will NEVER own another Samsung phone. Shit GPS, poor reception, total lack of updating the OS in a timely fashion and general douche baggery. Combine that with a still heavily fragmented OS across dozens of different phones running anywhere from 1.6 to 2.3 (I suppose thats the latest Android release).

Fuck it. I might just bit the bullet, eat the contract termination fee on this phone and go get me an iPhone 4.

edit: This is whats its like to have an Android phone. Oatmeal thinks its more Apple, but fuck if these Android phone vendors aren't even worse at. At least Apple typically waits a year to release new ones.

I love that cartoon.

A lot of Apple gambits are like that.

I'm still on a 3GS

I thought iOS5 and OSX Lion look great. They really improved a ton of things people have complained about.

lol Android.

Later.

http://blog.gsmarena.com/5-new-and-cool-features-the-ipad-is-getting-out-of-ios5/

Not to piss on the parade, but... Is there a single, true, Apple-innovation in this update? Seems like they've just borrowed some of the better ideas from the industry. Not that I think that's a bad idea... Hey, Apple sees a good idea and implements it on their device. There's nothing wrong with that. I just struggle to see where the competition should be running scared from it...

I still can not begin to even imagine the need for such a complex cell phone.

I mean, do people really need all this shit on a phone ?

I use my phone to call people and the stray text message. That's it.

That's cause you're old ;)

nruva once said something that I think rings more and more true as time goes on, these mobile devices are becoming the new laptops, and laptops more like the desktop of today, given that laptops can perform more and more serious tasks on the go/in a smaller form, then you can do all your internet/fun stuff on your phone.

So basically.. the phone/text part is becoming more like a bonus on top of all the stuff these small computers can do.

That wireless mirroring looks awesome.

I'm for the easiest to use device, and the best bang for my buck.

I've tried Windows Phone and Android - neither one of them are really that good for me.

I love the way iOS works. It's simple and elegant.

If Android came out with some update or an overhaul, maybe...

I'm glad there are 3 main players in this smartphone race.

It's like the console wars.

I wouldn't go as far as to say 3. Perhaps 2.5.

Microsofts Smartphone presence in todays market is about as successful as NEC was with the TurboGrafx here in the US in the early 90's. Damn near DOA. Its almost like they just couldn't be bothered.

its interesting that the complaints about android in here are from experience with samsung and motorola devices.

id recommend checking out htc in the future.

android makes ios feel like a feature phone.

iTunes match is a great service. I'll finally have acess to ALL my Music (even torrented) everywhere I go.

I can't wait until it comes out.

I'm also REALLY glad they axed the MobileMe service. I was fed up. Just last month they wanted me to renew for $100 a year. And I just couldn't do it. So glad I didn't.

Why do I want to websurf or watch movies on a 3" screen ?

I could see checking an important work related email on the fly, but best assured 95% of all internet usage via a cell phone is just bullshit websurfing. Why ? Is it internet addiction ? People's urge to check their facebook at any time ? Can't you just wait till you get home ?

Buying cheap shit at Wal-Mart, eating transfat and surfing the web. We went from walking on the moon to this. It's truly a species in decline. Entropy's a bitch, but exciting to watch.

I agree, honestly I know in my heart that I'd be happier if I just got a magic jack and said fuck it all. But then again I'm single, and my bitches would laugh at me if I told them I had no cell phone. :crying:

Thinking back, the quality of life was better before cell phones. You could walk out the door and have privacy. Now, everyone is expected to be in contact 24/7. I keep my work phone on all the time, but about 75% of the time my person phone is turned off.

You could always get one of these: http://johnsphones.com/

It's a phone... It's just a phone. It doesn't even allow text messaging (receiving or sending). I've contemplated having one of these for when I want to unplug. It gives you the peace-of-mind that if shit were hit the fan you could always make/receive a call, but with the only address book being paper and pen (which tucks inside the phone itself) and me not having a clue of even one of my friend's mobile numbers is... You're probably not doing a lot of pleasure dialing. Perfect unplug device. For $100, it's also one of the cheapest unlocked GSM phones around ;)

That's the perfect phone right there. It's 100% of what you need.

Damnit. I want The Tree. The address book does kind of kill it a bit, but I'm not much of a phone talker anyways and generally keep all numbers in my address book on my Touch. I kind of miss the days of actually remembering phone numbers any ways. I don't know a single number except for a few numbers at work any more.
