Ok guys, I didn't know how to read Japanese, and didn't find any info on this on websites, so I had to figure this out for myself... hopefully this will be helpful to some.

When using any Memory stick, Upon Saving a game, the PSP will create a "PSP" folder in the root of the Memory Stick Directory.

Inside the PSP dir, create a folder called "Music" I tried using a folder called MP3 or just placing the Mp3's randomly, and it didnt work.

Simply put any MP3 files into the "Music" dir and your PSP will read it from the Music menu on the system.... I tried several other ways, and this seemed to be the only way it recognizes it.

Also I'm sure you can put Sony ATRAC files in there, but I didn't have any to try it with.

Here's what it should look like.

Place Music (MP3 files) in this dir:

I've provided a Writeup on ways to get Video Converted/ Playing on your PSP here:http://www.neo-geo.com/forums/showthread.php?t=107857

Great write up! This will really help me out. Now it's my turn to share:
I don't know what you need to name the directory, maybe "Video"?
You can get a free download of some software to convert video files into Mpeg-4 format here.

I think I had read that the MPEG4 used for the PSP had some kind of weirdness to it that made standard MPEG4 convertions not work, which is why Sony was releasing their own. Not sure though, as it was a while back that I read it. Try it out and let me know, I'll be interested to find out.

Ok guys, thanks to some sketchy information I've gotten Video Working on the PSP using some Pirated Software, I'll make a thread w/ screenshots detailing how to do it.

It's using Pirated(?) software though....

You can save mp3s in sub folders of the Music folder, but not more than one sub directory. No directories within directories.

There was a IGN PSP article called Sticking It which showed the directory structure.

How big are the memory sticks memory wise? I've been looking at an i pod or the like since my current mp3 player is crapping out on me. I may look into a PSP if its at least a gig of music. I'm using my n gage right now but its mono :crying:

I have a sealed 60gb iPod Photo if you might be interested. The PSP only comes with a 32mb memory stick duo, but you can readily purchase a 1gb memory stick duo if you have the means.

I tried out the support for M3U playlists the other day, so I thought I would share my experience. Basically I had a load of mp3 taken from an audio cd. I created a m3u playlist using winamp, although a m3u playlist is basically just a text file with the filenames of the tracks on new lines.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, you can organise mp3 files in subdirectories of the music folder. In the music folder I created a subfolder called Fabriclive 19 - The Freestylers and placed all the mp3 files inside. I placed the m3u playlist file called Fabriclive 19 - The Freestylers.m3u inside this folder also.

When played on the PSP the directory was recognised as containing a m3u playlist and displayed m3u (rather than mp3) in the icon. Once the folder was opened, the tracks were in the order specified in the playlist (note: the files were not in alphabetical order, so it wasn't just a coincidence).

On a side note, IGN said that playing continuous tracks (such as a dj mix cd) had a slight pause between tracks. With my 512mb Pro Duo high speed memory stick, I cannot notice any delay between tracks. Its seemless. Maybe the pause was because they were using a non pro memory stick?

I believe they must be checked in and out, much in the same way as using a NET MD with Sonic Stage. Otherwise they are just ignored. IGN couldn't manage to do this, as their version didn't support the PSP. Once I get home from my christmas break, I will give it a try.

Lol sorry for all the posts. Just a quick one to say that the PSP supports both ID3 and ID3v2 tags.

That's pretty easy, and easy, is good.
I wonder if I can get datastick support on my Linux...
