I'm sorry, but Guile just sucks in this game!

I've seriously tried to like him! Only 2 specials and 3 supers that are pain to pull off (at least for me). I love what they did for his sprite (the Alpha 3 was crap), and I want to love the character, but damn it I just can't use him!!!

Is it just me or does he just flat out suck? Maybe its my lack of skill :(

Maybe this game just flat out sucks. I'm starting to wish I had never bought it. I enjoyed it at first, but there's no reply value to it at all.

No, i believe it is just you based on how effectively i can use him, how good my brother uses him, and how effectively i have seen other players use Guile. His arieal supers are hard to pull of tho for me, but i love him, his sprite and the way he plays. And there are 3 supers for Guile including an Exceed move, making it 4.

I was comboing with him the very first time i picked him in the arcade, so i don't know why you are having trouble with him.

Guile is not bad at all. He just plays alot different from most other characters. All you need to do with Guile is throw sonic booms, when they get close GCFS and knock them down, get back across the screen and throw more sonic booms. He's not SF2:WW Guile, but with basically no charge time, he's pretty good

I've found him to be a good fighter, but I can't pull off his supers for the life of me.

Guile sucks in this game, plain and simple. It's not just his charge motions that make him play like ass, but it's the limitations of the 4 buttons. Characters like Mai make Guile their bitch with ease. This certainly isn't the beast we've come to know from the SF2 games.

Didn't you read the many threads about how bad this game was???

You even started a thread about if this game was bad and you got lots of negatives back, and you STILL BOUGHT IT...

I think it's the first time I see Spike be that negative about SvC... :p
Hehe...

As for me, I'll buy the game anyway... But when it's cheap enough. I know what to expect, too.

And thus the truth starts to slowly sink in for a few people. :(

And to think you had said this not too long ago.

I may be a blind fanboy saying this, but I enjoy a great deal with this game. The next to last boss battle has got to be the coolest background/music/fight in a fighter in a LONG time. The heartbeat that starts before the fight, the lighting, the background and what not. The game's not super, but it's got its moments. Period. I think everyone should play this for at least a few hours, if nothing more. I'm glad I'm getting it.

Spike

Ouch.

Well... The game is lacking depth and a lot more than that actually, but it's still fun in a way... But for how long ? :|

On the other hand, considering how the game gets bad reviews and all... Then maybe I can expect prices to drop fast, for the MVS cart...

I'm expecting much more from SS5 and KoF 2003...

Haha... Actually, no.
I *had* it, but not anymore. :p

That was truly a significantly better game than SvC Chaos, no matter how much people bitched about Blanka and Sagat, or about the different characters sprites not fitting together... (something that is more obvious in SvC, in my opinion)

A lot of people cry over top tiers in CvS2, but all of them are very beatable. I remember when people were crying about Haohmaru being broken when it first came out. Then it went onto Sagat, Cammy, and Blanka. Now that it's been out for awhile, it's pretty much recognized as A-Sakura as being mainly broken.

CvS2 has the staying power that Chaos didn't. It's no wonder people were bitching to switch back the cab to CvS2 :p

Spike was right in his "quoted" post by BonusKun.
The game does have its moments.
There are plenty of positives...

The only thing you've got to regret is how much you spent on the game...

$1000+?
$500+?
$300+?
Or $50 for the port?

I wouldn't have spent $300 on this game unless I knew I loved it. Its definitely no MOTW, or even KOF98...but I love a lot of aspects about it. The music is minimalistic and catchy, the backgrounds are sparse and isolated, etc etc. It's everything I said a hundred times.

What pisses me off is when jaded idiots come around with their opinion, see it being validated by other members in agreement, and post just to make themselves feel smarter. Get fucking real. Ultimate loser.

Bah svc chaos rocks and thats what I think. :D
Beats CvS/CvS2 anyday ^^

And Guile does not suck...
If he's so cheap when you versus him in CPU... how can he be so bad like you describe...

It's your skill and charging up practice and combos too that you need to brush up probably...

He's charging moves are pain in the arse, yes I agree too... >.<
But if mastered well, he's deadly as any other great characters in the game.

To me, It's not the character anyway, It's how the person plays him/her...
And playing against a top tier character with a probably low tier character(low tier, not sucky character, meaning they probably have low priorities and stuff) is even more challenging and more difficult to strategise overall...

Unless you're up against cheap characters lol... like *coughGeesecough* ;)

Guile rocks! :buttrock:

Guile is good. And when did he ever have more than two special moves? Sonic boom and the somersault kick is it.

I've been totally owning with Guile lately, so I'm going to respectfully disagree with those of you who can't use him worth a damn. :p

As for SvC itself, I was initially unimpressed with it, but after playing it for the last almost two weeks, I think it's a terrific game and a lot of fun.

Hell, it's eons better than the last two KOF games Playmore has put out, and the attention to detail is pretty high, from the glint of Vega's claw, to Dhalsim's rubber limbs, there's a lot here to enjoy.

The three things I would fix would be to give it a real soundtrack instead of music that's just "there". Bless it with a lusher color palette. And fix the close combat hit detection.

Fine and dandy with all those suggestions, but I have a bigger one for snkp:

Rename this game King of Fighters 96 vs Street Fighter 2: CE.

Really, it seems like playmore decided KoF 96 was the best of em all, cause most of the fucking SNK side comes from this(with some extra animation or whatever here and there).

Well, I just sat down and played with Guile for the first time, and I rocked the house with him. Whats wrong here other than maybe you just suck with him? His Supers are incredible, and his Exceed is very easy to pull off...I got into a fireball contest with Mr. Karate and was outpacing him with Sonic Booms!

Guile has plenty of normals too, the only one that sucks is the Knee because it brings you right up to the opponent and is blocked most of the time, then you can get Supered easily with it, but his Bare Knuckle and Standing Strong Kick is very effective for countering all sorts of shit. The Standing Strong Kick has good range, its like a step-in side kick that is suprising...nah...there's nothing wrong with Guile, and he looks fantastic, I think they did a wonderful job with his sprite.

Overall I'm very pleased with this game and most critisism I've seen comes from a few main things:
a) It's not MoTW
b)It's not original SNK(I.E....its Playmore, some just hate Playmore)
c)Hit Detection...the only solid complaint, but its not a big enough problem to disown the game and Playmore. Seems like most people who hate this game either suck at it and aren't good enough gamers to overcome this minor problem, or haven't even played the game yet and are parroting critiques of members who they think have some sort of 'street cred'.
