Thinking about picking this up for the GC since I won't be getting the Naomi version anytime soon. Anyone play this and is it worth getting. They seem to go cheap for a used version, and about $70 new on Amazon. I'll probably go the used route though. Or will Japanese version for the Dreamcast work on an American Dreamcast?

The GC port is ok, certainly more faithful to the NAOMI original than the XBLA version. The problem is that the GC rev is really glitchy, not unplayable though.

The DC rev is region specific, but all you need to do is burn yourself a boot-disc and you'll be able to play the game in any region DC unit.

Or you could just download the dc version and play it. It's like 30mb.

I'm just an Ikaruga scrub but I never had any problems with the GC revision.

I take it the only way to find these is second hand now?

Yeah, I haven't seen one of those on a retail site for a long time. There was one for sale on the selling threads last month, though.

I never noticed any glitches with the GC version, but that's the version I started on and the one I've played the most of - it's the only Ikaruga that I've beat.

Oh my god. I just played Ikaruga for the very first time last night. It was the dreamcast version. We Spent 2 hours just getting past the 2nd boss on easy mode. I wish I would have known that you need to play the game 6 hours before you get unlimited continues. Too bad I didn't save it.

I loved the GC version although it is the only version that I have ever played. It is a wonderful game to me and I suggest buying it. You can always buy it and re-sell it if you don't like it.

Hope I'm not pirating your thread but I thought if there is talk about GC shmups I can ask....

How is Radirgy on the GC?

I just recently bought it on Play-Asia and I'm not 100% sure if I should play it or leave it sealed in my collection.... :D

The Gamecube version is OK, it has worse sound and graphics and a couple of small glitches. Plus you can't use the VGA box. I'd recommend going for the DC version, even if it's more expensive

Oh I thought that it would run in progressive mode with the component cable. :(

Are there any other shooters on the GC besides Ikaruga and Radirgy?
