I didn't heed the warnings and bought his stool. The injustice they did to the SNK characters! At least SNK had the decency to keep Capcom characters' moves intact in Chaos, Capcom had no remorse f***ing up every character. What happened to Kyo's autoguard, his 75 shiki kick, his kototsuki Yo, his crouching hard punch, his 115 Shiki Dokugami? All gone. Iori's f+P, P is gone, his Kototsuki In is also slower. Kim also loses one of his staple moves b, f + K. Gah, the moves have been changed so much it disgusts me to even further discuss them, I'm seriously contemplating a return if it wasn't for the lack of a US release of Capcom vs. SNK 2 for the Dreamcast.

You talking about the first CvS? Yeah, it's pretty bad when compared to CvS2 (gameplay wise). With the characters, you have EX versions of them. Such as Terry's regular self has his traveling Power Wave and Rising Tackle, but his EX version has his RB Power Wave (both levels), and his Power Dunk, but no Rising Tackle.

It's pretty fucked how the characters are split like that, and it's a damn shame that everything costs SO DAMN MUCH to buy in the secret store. SNK vs Capcom Pro is a souped up version of the first, even though the characters are split. It has everything unlocked, Joe, Dan, and a few gameplay tweaks. It's JPN only (unless you want the shitty PSX version), but it's worth it man. I also dig how you can change the soundtrack to original SNK and Capcom tunes (like the back alley stage has Final Fight music, and the raining arcade stages has KOF '94 Japan team music - if I can remember correctly).

But CvS1 is still fun to play casually. It's just tedious having to spend 400pts per character to unlock their alternate colors, which you have to do if you want to unlock the other stuff like Riot Iori, Evil Ryu, Morrigan, Nakoruru, or Gouki. I don't think I've touched my CvS1 since I've gotten Pro.

never played #1 but 2 I only play casually. The SNK characters really did get the shaft Iori is really clunk and so is Ryo. Also certain moves are near impossible like Kaiser wave movements and also Shoryuken Movements. Did I mention Geese just blows in SVC2.

I played CvS 1 to death. You had to to unlock all the stuff. I didn't know my friend had the NGPC cable until I was almost done getting everything.

I love this game. Sure, it's not perfect, but there's a lot of good things about it.

Especially Yuri's light jumping fireball trap in the corner. Hehehehe. :)

Yeah I know what you mean! I just got pro about 2 weeks ago, and I have not touched CVS1 original for nothing! I want to get rid of it, but no one is interested! Pro is a great game! CVS2 music sucks big time! It would have been a great game if not for the music and backgrounds!:oh_no:

Eh, I didn't bother taking the time to unlock everything... I just downloaded a save from Gamefaqs. The site is good for something you know.

ok, so your tellin me that the reason you dont give the overall thumbs up to a FIGHTING GAME is because of the fucking music and backgrounds? what kind of god damn pinko commie are you? it's the engine that matters. you can have a game that looks great/sounds perfect/best bgs ever/and 3000frames of animation but it doesn't matter one god damn iota if it plays like shaq fu.

Heh, get used to it. People hate KOF 97 because of the music and KOF 2001 because of the backrounds. Very shallow people you'll find here. May as well just buy the soundtrack and artbook for the game.

I use the music from the game. If I want to hear the old tunes, I'd play the old games. And people bitch about reusing sprites!

It was very satisfying to return this piece of stool last night.

'What is your reason for the return?'

'Ermmm, I read the reviews for the game and heard it was not very good.'

And I played it and it was shit.

You thought about picking up Capcom vs SNK Pro? I was foolin' around this afternoon and made a vid. You can notice a few gameplay tweaks. Check it out

The thing that's weak about CVS is that the computer AI sucks terribly. Even on level 8 you end up taking out the CPU's team with you first character all the time. I used to have this game and just got sick of one crediting it on level 8 all the time.

Is the AI on CVS2 stronger, or is the CPU still just an animated punching bag?

The AI is weak in most Capcom games. CvS2 is no exception.

I know I'll probably catch hell for this, me being a noob and all, but personally, I'd love it if at least some of the tunes from KoF and Street Fighter were used in the CvS games.

On the point of buying soundtracks and artbooks for the games. Right now, I'm listening to the KOF 2000 AST and I'm thinking, "That'd be some hot shit if Benimaru had his team's music from KOF 2K for CvS2."

In a top notch fighting game, the gameplay is the "meat and bones" of the package. That's why I have a more positive opinion of KOF 2K1 than most. However, the music usually adds the extra UMPH! to take the game from sweet to god-like. As is the case with Guilty Gear.

Well, let me cut to the point of this little rant and get back on topic. The CVS games actually got better with CVS Pro. The first one was, IMO, decent because of the novelty at the time. I finally got to play a crossover where I could team up Terry Bogard with Ken or Kim with Guile. The only thing that cost CVS1 (and cost it big tyme) was the gameplay. The SNK characters were nerfed to hell and back and the Capcom characters didn't have the same ease of use and stylish flair as their Alpha 3 counterparts.

In short... CVS1 was indeed a piece of garbage compared to 2 and even Pro. Well, there's my two-cents on the matter.
