UPDATE!

Received word back from the UK seller. Looks like the very best price I can do, delivered to everyone's door is about $40 per switch. He quoted me 500 UK Pounds for 30 switches shipped to the US via UPS. With the current exchange rate, 500 pounds is roughly $842. Divided by 30 units and that's just over $28 per switch shipped from the UK to me. Then tack on another roughly $12 shipping via priority mail and you are at $40 shipped per unit.

So, we are right at 30 units in the interest list, so with this post I am cutting off adding anyone else to this group buy. I will start PM'ing folks starting later tonight to round up payments and once I have it all I will pay the invoice to the UK seller.

EDIT: I think I am going to do the payments a little different. I am going to ask folks for the 30 unit buy to just pay the cost of the switch itself at first. So we'll say $28.50 each. Then once they are received and I have a chance to repackage them for shipping, I will ask for a second payment of the shipping cost. This way everyone pays a fair amount for shipping. Cause after plugging numbers in on the USPS website, the shipping costs will vary widely depending on where you live. Flat rate box shipping would cost more for many folks. So, for you folks that are in the midwest, these switches will be closer to $36 shipped. HOLY SHIT

No, you still need to use external sync on any RGB monitor. No way around that. Unless you go component video, but that kinda defeats the purpose.

Really, most PVM users don't need a sync stripper. Some of the older (early/mid 80's) PVM require composite sync and don't like composite video as sync. However the vast majority of PVM monitors will happily use either.

A sync stripper really benefits folks using other RGB monitors (NEC XM29, Commodore 1084 and etc). For these monitors they require a very strict composite sync and won't accept comp. video as sync at all. Also, XRGB-mini owners really benefit from a sync stripper. The mini is kinda fiddly with regards to sync levels and a LM1881 virtually solves all those issues.

N00b question - How do you use a sync stripper with the mini?

Payment instructions have been sent to everyone on the interest list. If you need to drop out, that's cool. Just let me know.

I am hoping we can have payments in by the weekend.

Also, for those needing scart cables, I am checking with the UK seller on pricing for some 1 to 1.5 meter long cables. Don't count on it, but I am hoping to get some cables brought in as well.

I currently have a Scart cable with the BNC connectors attached to the TV. would i need an additonal cable to connect that Scart cable to the Scart switch?

Is it a female scart connector? Do you plug other consoles scart cables into it?

This is one of the better deals I have found for short, male to male Scart cables:

http://www.suntekstore.com/goods-10009347-scart_to_scart_20_pins_audio_video_cable_lead_12m.html

These are 1.2 meter long, fully wired cables. If I buy 20 of them they are like $4.68 each with free expedited shipping to the US (from Hong Kong). I haven't bought from these folks before, so I am unsure of the quality.

What does everyone think?

Can't go wrong at that price. I personally don't need one. I still think I have that male scart - to - mini 8pin din connector for my XRGB that you made last year for my old Hama switch. Just gotta find that damn thing now. ;)

put me down for 3 cables todd, price sounds good to me. Only question is if they are properly shielded, but for $15 I'm willing to take this gamble

I have updated the first post with paid for switches.

We still have a handful of people who haven't paid and as soon as that happens I can submit payment to the seller.

Looks like we are sitting at 37 switches for this order once everyone pays.

I will go ahead and submit a request to the seller for an invoice and as soon as the funds have been secured, I will pay it.
