Yeah, yeah...I know, welcome to 2001. Is GoDaddy the best way to go about doing this, for domain name and hosting?

I use Godaddy for my site and I've been happy with them so far.

Godaddy has an atrocious, awful, horrid interface but they are a solid service.

But really, if you setup auto-renewal and then use your own nameservers, then you will not have to login again unless you want to buy another.

If you need a host... hit me up.

Depends on how much you need. I use www.midphase.com for Substance TV and they've got good service and have cpanel and all that good stuff. But if you just need a simple site, you might do well to use some other options listed above.

Damn...ok, give me a few and check this stuff out. All I really want is just a few pages to promote my stuff, nothing too crazy. Go Daddy's site is a train wreck, but the price is right for the domain name.

hostmonster is great if you need control of your databases, ftp, setup coding support etc etc...

if you just need a place to put some public_html ... let me know ... got plenty of room on my main server and we can give you a cheap deal.

We are planning to start into full hosting with cpanel and what not but that is still being worked on. So if you want that from the start, we aren't ready for that just yet.

@xiao_haozi- I'll shoot you a PM when I iron out some specifics on what I want. I'm obviously new to this and don't want to waste your time with questions like 'will it cost more money if i have the www in front of my website name?' :)

just find someone that hosts wordpress, and go from there.

that's your best bet as a web newbie

That seems to be what I'm hearing most. Avoid html and go straight to wordpress. I'm still reading up on it but so far I think that will be the path I take.

no offense but it sounds like you have no idea what youre doing. are you planning on actually making something yourself or paying someone? i would highly suggest to not try it yourself if youre planning on selling anything or trying to make money.

"Bizarre thread titles" like this make some readers "want to make fun of" the thread creator but others "want to start writing like a Zagat guide"; further noting "god that style is lazy".

Yeah, i'm using this software called "Front Page". OMG I love the "drag and drop" interface!! :lolz: Really though, all joking aside thanks for the input guys. I think the biggest thing I had to figure out was the whole hosting bit. Glad I was able to get some lulz in too! This is just going to just host my resume and some work...having a buddy do it.
