I think the divider keeping the boards apart broke?

Went to put my Crossed Swords MVS cart in my cabinet and a piece of plastic comes falling out of the cart. It looks like it's the plastic inside the cart that keeps the two boards aligned?

I initially thought maybe it was a piece that laid in there and was tightened down somehow, but after taking the cart apart I now have concluded it was at one point one solid piece (that being a piece of plastic that slides in to some slots in the cart that is one solid piece that keeps the carts apart.

Is my conclusion correct? And can I buy just a new insert to put in the cart? Or should I just buy a whole new cart and re-home this one?

Thanks!

Yeah, that's supposed to be one piece. It should be attached. Just look at one that's not broken.

You could probably fix this with some strong glue meant for plastic. Just take the piece out to glue it obviously -- Don't glue it with the PCB's on it.

I've seen repros available on eBay before.

Thanks ya'll. I've tried to glue it back in place using some super glue and sanding. The only question is if I left enough space for both boards eyeballing it.

I'll let you know.

I did compare all my other carts, and presumed it was supposed to be one entire piece but this is the oldest cart I owned so I wondered if they did something less efficiently in the early days. But yeah, after investigation that's pretty dumb.

Thanks all!

And just as a follow up question for any nerds... pics of the top board of CS...

It seems like the wear on the leads is visibly different. Is that a result of the difference in use between the different memory banks of this game?

The 5 different "options" to put what I think is a resistor on this board (1M, 5M, 4.7K, etc...) is that because this base board was used for different games? And this resistor would differ?

And what's going on with the NO WAIT and WAIT components?

I wouldn't worry about it. These are old games that have had rough industrial use, so wear is normal. If it's uneven I don't think it means anything.

The "NO WAIT" and "WAIT" are jumpers used for the P rom wait cycle configuration.
