Chunli is indeed one overpowered character. She is also the new capcom fave at the arcades i frequent other than vega(claw guy) who is useful in beating the CPU and the bosses.

But IMO the most overpowered non-boss character goes to Geese howard. Now that guy is one bad mofo especially his raging storm juggles which can be done anywhere after the close light reppuken.Possibly the strongest Geese i've seen in recent times.Playmore has indeed given him some love.:D

I take my words back, I ain't playing it anymore.

It relies WAY too much on tiers. You know whats even sadder? people only use them, try using someone else and you'll be raped. They go straight for Mr.Karate, Terry, Chun Li and Evil Ken (who can link a super after a super and that takes a buttload off of your bar). And these stupid characters have almost no recovery time whatsoever, attack after attack, dm after dm.

Its very boring in 1p (I went to 'heaven', big woop) and 2p is where its at, unless you play it in a circle of friends and set up some rules then I don't think this will last too long (imo of course).

If you want, I'd like to go a few rounds with you some time. I use just about anybody, so it'll be for fun.

Well, while I'm waiting on my actual cart to come with I am paying for, I couldn't hold off any longer... and so, I got the rom to check out what I had already bought. Here's my thoughts:

I like it quite a bit. I can tell, however, that there's balance issues... at least I think I can. I haven't bothered with the powerhouse characters... yet. I do notice that some capcom characters look GREAT, while others don't.

My favorite redone capcom guys: Sagat and Dhalsim. These guys look GREAT, IMHO, and much much better than they ever have. Ken and Ryu look nice too. Oh, and Chun-li looks great. My two favorite characters of Capcom all-time, Balrog (M Bison in Japan) and Guile, however, look stupid. Most everyone else looks just fine. Even the SNK guys, outside of Ryo, whom I feel as looked retarded ever since 96, look just fine.

So far, after playin half an hour on a POS emu, I like it. I don't know why people don't like the new Sagat. His stance is wicked, and his art is nice as hell.

Oh, music, character selection, interface, and art are all top notch. I can't say about gameplay since I don't have the real thing yet... will give THOSE impressions in a few days.

Nah but that's fun of it... you've got to learn to counter these characters^^

I seriously don't think the characters you mentioned above are considered cheap or a threat.

You want cheap, bring in Goentiz, Geese, Demitri and perhaps even Zero... now *this* gets old...

Actually Violent Ken can even connect his exceed after Kuzuryuu Reppa... ^^;;
But anywho, so what... learn your mistakes and counter! ^^
Opponents abusing his teleport dash would think twice when I do my Tabasa's Heart Super xD
The Restive Kitten prevents them from jumping in too ;)
It's all about learning your mistakes and being better if you're beaten^^

So far I'm ok with Terry and Mr Karate... but Chun Li's kinda tough a little... Although I don't see not many chun li players, the people using her here are damn bloody good at using her...

But I don't even bother to challenge Demitri, Geese, Goenitz players... they play so cheaply it's sick -.-;;

So far only Violent Ken and Chun Li are the real problem. Chun Li's damn jump kick counters just about anything, DPs are pretty useless a lot of the times. They just keep on doing this stupid kick and jump over me here and there, can't do anything (do a DM and you'll miss, she jumps too fast and high).

I almost beat V.Ken and then they do a double super on me and I'm done for. The is a huge pain (teleport poke, teleport poke, teleport Dm, dm, risnse and repeat). Broken as heck.

Soon, Robotron, soon. It comes out on AES in just a few days... not this emu shit.

Anyhow, I can now tell you why I hate Guile in this version. It's not that he's not good, it's that his head is poorly drawn. It goes from pretty cool looking (when he walks forward or backwards) to VERY small when he's doing anything else. IN FACT, he has sideburns like a shounen when he walks forward, but when he holds still.... get this.... NONE! What a piss ass job at drawing Guile. If only they would have done as nice a job on him as they did.... oh, everybody else.

Oh well.... So far, my only real complaint.

whats depressing to me about this game is the lack of availability. I easily would have drove a little out of my way to spend a few bucks playing it an at arcade but the closest spot to me is probably Chicago and thats an 8 hour drive....so of course my first opportunity to play was on an emulator.

Now obviously a PC controller isnt as nice as an actual arcade joystick, but the play controls arent that bad in comparison. It has a similar feel to it of other SNK fighters. My biggest complaint is the lack of complexity that was put into it. I do prefer one on one fighters often times but I wish this game would have given the option to do single or teams, like CVS. It seems rediculous that its not included, considering that element of CVS was more or less something SNK brought to the table in the first place with KOF 94. On the other hand simply creating an SNK carbon copy of CVS would be stupid so I understand the reasoning for making significant changes.

Its not a bad game at all, Ive spent several hours playing and its fun...it just seems sort of lacking, but I guess I was expecting it to blow CVS out of the water.

Yeah sometimes when you're winning against Violent Ken... he comes up all of a sudden with that 2 comboed super... yeah takes alot of your lifechunk away :\
Even worse with the exceed... I've got that in my face once or twice... ouch >.o

Yeah...I despise Emulation, but I realize everyone can't afford to shell out $300 for Neo games so, I understand why some folks emulate. I will patiently await my cart......

I live in Rockford, and you can come and play on my arcade any time you want! This goes to all northern IL members... going to have to have a Neo get together one of these days, now that I have my own home. :buttrock:

As I said in another thread... I don't like Sagat's sprite all that much.
He should hide his fucking teeth, that makes him look stupid. :p

Edit: Oh and Iori's "face swaps" (that he's had since KoF 2001) is a lot worse than Guile's, in my opinion...

Ah, I like Sagat showing his teeth... like he's pissed. HOWEVER, he looks SUPER GAY when he wins with that laugh pose... doesn't even look like a laugh, just a stupid look. Wow is it dumb. His hunched over stance is sweet.

Guile... good animation, but would it kill them to keep the face the same? I still think Guile's never looked better than he did when he was in SF2 Champ Ed. After that, it all went downhill with funky color edits and what not. He's the reason I got into 2D fighters (great lookign char), but now... lame-o.

Dhalsim is still pimp looking, however. Never looked cooler... which ain't saying much. ;)

Yeah, Sagat looks like shit in that victory pose...
Plus, his voice is really weird... Not really bad ass sounding. :spock:

I wouldn't mind Sagat showing his teeth a different way, the way it is done in the game is weird to me... Like you can just see his top teeth, not the bottom ones... (I'm just talking about his "stand still" animation here...)

Oh, trust me, I never said his voice was badass sounding... heh. Oh well, different strokes for different folks. Hell, I don't even know if he actually laughs out loud until I get the real thing friday.

I find it suprising that playmore actually toned up certain capcom characters such as chunli. She seems more powerful than some of her previous SF games.Spinning bird kick can be comboed and then juggled.Cool...
Dhalsim seems to be quite effective in this game as well.

One of the only problems I have with the game is the hit detection, I could be across the screen throwing out a Hadou Ken and my opponent can hit me out of it from the other side.

The other problem I have with it is the cast of characters, they used the Capcom regulars all they did is replace morrigan with Demitri, Zangief with Hugo and added Tabasa and Zero(who sucks if you're not a cheater).

I enjoy this game alot! :)

I love the interaction between fighters, the gameplay is good, and it's just an overall good time.

In normal play I use mah Vega, but if I'm just goofing around I usually bring in Goenitz. Needless to say it feels good taking out Chun-Li with him.
