Got this well worn 2l12b panel from my brother, ecZangief. Sanded out most of the rust, and populated to the best I could. Need to order some Sanwa 30mm Cyan buttons for player 2 and some new balltops.

As some of you may be aware, I've been after a 600-7143-001 harness for my blast city, since my efforts were fairly fruitless I ordered a 600-7143-003 harness instead. The 003 harness is just the RCA cables and naomi power cables, traditionally suited to an Astro PSU. I've been fairly unsatisfied with my only option being a 001 harness to power a Naomi off the Blast City SEGA I/O and I've completely refused to just 'give up' on the matter.
Now I've only got a standard JAMMA harness installed in the blast, no RCA's (though there similar cables leading to a 4 pin connector) and of course no Naomi power cables. The PSU/IO side of the 003 harness is a different size JST connector, the number of pins that is, but the crimps are the same. I simply removed the crimps from the 003 harness and added them to the vacant ports in my current 18pin and 12pin power connectors on my standard blast harness. Also stripped and soldered the RCA's to the pinout as well. essentially creating my own '001' harness by combining the 003 harness cables to the standard harness. Anyone with a standard harness can do this and save time and money.

a 600-7143-003 harness will cost you around 20-30 new.

:buttrock: sweet ! good to know.

The 001 loom is designed to make it impossible for both the stereo & mono amp to simultaneously drive the speakers. What kind of mono/stereo switcher did you install ?

Good question! to be completely honest, I have no idea about that one! When I plug in an MVS board and go to the sound test I get 'LEFT' and 'RIGHT' out of both speakers anyway. Someone has made a cricuit on a small 20pin jamma like connector which leads from what I think is a sound wire from the I/O that ends up after the circuit at the volume knob. This I need to do more research about, i'll take a photo tonight, see if anyone else can make sense of it. Ive yet to hook sound up to the RCA's so that's an unknown until I get my Naomi this week.

Finally figured out what the deal was with MegaGraffin's JammaGenny.. both the original maker and I had been pulling the video from the wrong place.. after the voltage on the RGB lines had been run through resistors, dialing it down from 1V (acceptible for most arcade monitors) to .7V (good for TVs, but not some monitors). I traced the lines back to the resistors (before the video encoder) and tapped the video before it went through them. This resolved the issue.

I would put pics up, but they don't show how much the video improvement is. I'll be offering jamma gennys soon!

You could also tap it from the AV socket since it has pass through. Glad you figured it out.

Make sure the coin mechs work and have them put in quarters if they want to replenish their health.

No continuing, that way we know who is the ultimate champion...1 credit each!

Gotta say I'm surprised. I took a look at his Jamma Gen as well and on my monitors the color depth and brightness was better than my Jamma Gen on both my cabs. Glad you were able to take a look at it and make it better for him. On my Jamma Gen, I tapped the RGB from directly from the Sony video encoder chip. On my cabs, having the video go through the resistors, like his Jamma Gen was, made a better picture. I noticed it was better specifically on the yellow. His yellow had greater depth of color than mine.

Since I had never seen anyone else Jamma Gen, I was curious who's was closer to a true RGB output. I fired up a genesis emulator and put the video output to RGB and compared the RGB color output. His Jamma Gen was closer to that output than mine was.

I really think it was an issue with the auto trisync chassis. I wish I had a 2931 to test it with the verify that it would have had issues too.

Finished my consolized MV1C today.

Big thanks go to Xian Xi for some tips on how to get everything to fit in the case.

Couple shots to show just how small the case is:

IMG_0672%2520%2528Medium%2529.JPG

IMG_0673%2520%2528Medium%2529.JPG

Unit is about 8.5 inches wide, 6.5 deep and 1.5 tall. Barely fits the board in there. Its only slightly larger than an MVS cart.

Stereo audio, RGB video and Unibios. Used a NeoBiosMasta, but due to space constraints I removed the bios socket and then soldered the rom in place. This gave me a couple millimeters of extra clearance so the case top would fit on. Same thing with the battery. Removed the stock unit and added a regular coin cell battery holder on the bottom of the board along with removing the charging circuit.

You might also notice that I cut about 3/4s of the Jamma edge off. Originally I was going to use shorter standoffs and to clear the controller ports I decided to remove part of the Jamma edge. Later I changed my mind and used taller standoffs so that wasn't necessary, though does give some extra clearance above the controller ports.

Build time: Couple days off and on again when I had the free time in the evenings. Cart slot didn't come out quite as perfectly square as I would have liked it but meh.

Not bad dude for a first time with that enclosure. When I build them, most of the time spent on it is squaring off the cart slot. I usually mark the cart slot with a pencil, cut it out and then use a diamond file set to square it out. Takes time but I think it's worth it.

In between building cables for folks, I found some time to knock out the region mod for my recently acquired CoreGrafx.

Sometime down the road I will do the RGB mod on it.
