Our issues are similar, but not exactly the same. Mine is specifically with powering on the 360 - I usually get a black screen until I do the remote board toggle. Only twice have I got a black screen while playing or messing with screen settings. Also noteworthy, I had no problem for close to a week, 360's picture started up every time when simultaneously booting it with the cab.

I have have the Blast in pieces, just scrubbed the living hell out of some parts. Going to see what I can do about my speaker grills next. Even bought a toothbrush - shits getting real up in here :vik:

Chem I'm almost 100% certain the sync issue is only related to the xbox, and to our manual sync monitors. I just tested the dc with the other hackbox I got from lem (thx again buddy). I played through the first 2 levels of Castle of Shikigami 2 and left it on attract mode for about an hour after that. Zero sync problems, and no black screen.

when switching from the vga to a pcb, did you make sure the vga was unplugged? a couple weeks ago, the first time I tried to do that I forgot the vga was still plugged in, and had a bitch of a time trying to get the settings all back to normal. Just the other day I changed some buttons and the stick on my blast and wanted to do an input test, so I threw in a cps2 board, this time made sure the vga wasn't plugged in and flipped the proper switches, the cps2 board (and controller input) worked fine. I immediately unplugged the cps2, threw on the vga again, and flipped the right switches and everything synced perfectly, no adjustments whatsoever.

as far as the xbox goes, I'm wondering (and 300wins mentioned this also) if it is some sort of screen saver. I turned off the screen dimmer in the xbox settings menu, I need to try to turn it back on and see if it still has an issue, but I want to enjoy the dreamcast on there a little more, gonna play under defeat:D

I had a very similar issue and it turned out to be a signal issue with my sending device (in this case, a computer).

Remember, there are variances in signal from the sending device...

true about the variances, so that makes sense to me for pausing the game and getting the black screen, but I don't understand about leaving the attract mode on and getting it. also, the pause black screen never happens instantly, only after like 20 min.

I do want to point out this is not HUGE deal at all. I played through all of ketsui the other night without a single problem:)

I know this might sound crazy, but some games do switch resolutions on the fly inbetween screens sometimes, which means it sends another sync signal which may confuse the monitor possibly. but dont quote me on that

that actually sounds about right for the pause screen panda. but attract mode is running the same for like 20 min(or so) and then cuts out is where I'm confused. I need to check the screen saver settings again, I might do that with the US xbox.

Mugi, have you toggled the 2nd switch on remote board after it goes black? Always does the trick, but I'm wondering if it is unhealthy or the monitor... Also, I highly suggest moving the remote board. The Red and Blue knobs are no longer accessible, but that doesn't matter because the main R/G/B knobs on the chassis are better for color adjustment anyway.

About to tackle the speakers... They are beyond icky!

redfield0009 had similar issue with his blast city. He ended up buying an Extron RGB 150x and that fixed the black screen issue for him.

The sync might be too strong and the monitor is shutting down to protect itself.

I was going to suggest something like a XRG2+ to normalize the signal coming over the wire.

I think anything that will process the sync would work.

Good advice, I'll look into a video converter.

So I just finished re-assembling the Blast City! One thing or sure, it fit back together like silk, pieces that I was previously struggling with are now aligned much much better. I hammered out one of the bezel clips which helped alot. I'm happy that the insides are much cleaner, there were some nasty soda spills and buildup before. Unfortunately I damaged the speakers using compressed air to blow some of the dirt off, it tore right through a few parts of the foam that covers the speakers. Also, the speaker shrouds on Blast's are a joke, I guess they are just glued on originally, wasn't able to get them as flush as I was hoping. I'm starting to feel pretty comfortable juggling the monitor now that the remote board isn't in the way of one of the hand holds.

About to test it out... Fingers crossed!!!

[edit]

Thank goodness, cab is back in action! 300wins, Lukemorse, and all the other cab aficionados should be proud of me today ;)
At first I thought the sound wasn't working, but then I remembered that I turned off the attract mode volume on Dimahoo lol

[edit 2]

Strange theory, you guys mentioned certain games might have different outputs, well, after Mugi mentioned playing through Ketsui it occurred to me that I yoo was mostly playing Ketsui last week when my black screen issues basically stopped. Then I started back with Mushi HD and DFK and struggles returned... My point, Ketsui is NOT high resolution, that others ARE. Hmmm, coincidence or could I be on to something??? I'm going to try DOJ Blex or something else that didn't get upgraded graphics and see what happens.

Finished 2 projects today.

New consolized MV1FZ. Stereo audio, +5volt only power, replacement lithium battery and holder. RGB video only.

Also needed a new controller while I was at it. Picked up from local arcade/game store a lightly used Madcatz Tatsunoko vs. Capcom branded arcade stick for the Wii. Pulled out most of the Wii wiring and installed a DB15 cable and wired it for Neo Geo usage. Top four buttons are ABCD. Start and Select are on the back of the controller where the system cable exits. Nice thing about these Madcatz sticks are that they have 30mm button holes so you can easily drop in Sanwa parts. Same thing with the stick. Easy replacement. Someone had already replaced the stock buttons with the blue Sanwa's. Will eventually replace the stick itself with either a Sanwa or Seimitsu.

Picked up the unit for $25 plus tax and paid about $3 shipped for the DB15 extension cable. Grand total less than $30 in the stick. Nice.

Got around to adding a Naomi amp to my Atomiswave cab. Put the amp in the back corner of the cab. Naomi sounds great and CPS2 can now be ran in stereo!
Also move the VGA adapter for JAMMA games to on top of the metal cage. I always thought it was put at a dumb place on the floor since it gets in the way of bigger boardsets. Now at least it's somewhat out of the way, but still easily accessible. Not that I play much JAMMA games on the cab.
Thanks to FrancoB for the cables.

Successfully cap kitted the audio section on my MV4FS!

Feeling proud of myself. My skills are still not great, but I'm improving.

Now I've got booming bass. Fuck yeah.

I went to town today on the inside of my CP enclosure. It was basically the only thing on my cab that still needed a serious cleaning, used a ton of simple green (which says on the bottle not to use on plastic panels lol), magic erasers, toothbrush... Wet sandpaper on the hinge and other metal... Almost took the whole day!

Here was the halfway point on the hinge:

(appologies for the not so great pic, and for the mess of wires)

Almost forgot (FOGOT?) - I widened the hole (...) on my repro CP so I could fit my 24mm black (...!) seimitsu start button. Also had a scare where I thought I fried my Daioh board, but it was just a lousy ground connection (whew), first 1P left movement stopped working, then my kick buttons on 2P stopped working.. Really happy I got it sorted.

I think I'm going to leave things the way they are for a while, I'm going for the 2-All!

This thing was in pieces for a while now, I had dismantled it thinking that I could use the stick on my old Versus City CP, I was wrong but at least the buttons got installed in the cab.

Replaced the buttons with garbage worn out seimitsu's for the sake of testing to see if it works lol
