With people converting Strikers, building AES2s, converters, etc...

I am suprised no one is offering a service to convert controllers for the Neo? Is there anyone here with the skill who can do the job? Or is the job so difficult that no one wants to deal with it?

Some of us out here just can't deal with the Neos controllers.. Sure some of you might like 'em... But I'd give a left nut for someone who can convert some dc/snes/sat controllers over to the dark side.......

What do you think?

Jeeze give me a break!

They'd be done, but then I started dating this girl I liked for a while, and well things have slowed down Neo wise.

Its cause the damn neo stick takes a +5 V.
It can be done but it won't be too easy.

That'd be great. When it's finished, be sure to let everyone know. I'm sure I'm not the only one that's interested in this controller.

For Lord Wolfgang Krauser:
I've made an arcade controler with cabinet pieces, without any 5v and it run very well. There is no 5v on the neo cart.

I'm new and probably wrong but gamesx.com suggests that the 5v is only for the neo pads. There's nothing inside a neo cart controller that would require the 5v.

Well i use my Neo sticks on my supergun and they do not need +5v to work. I think only the Pads need the 5v due to the circuitry inside.

Yeah... You DO NOT(you can't anyway) USE +5V for the MVS at least... It will spark when touched to a ground and reset your board.

personally the best sticks/ads to be used on the Neo, are the Neo made ones. Ok the pads breaks easily but the microswitchs are easy to replace anyway.

Funny this topic came up, as me and my buddy spent half of today trying to hack up a Gravis USB gamepad so we could wire a a 15-pin port and use Geo sticks. Whole thing went horribly awry though, thanks to some really fucked up wiring in the USB pad.

actually, the psx controller d-pad is all one piece, it just is shaped differently.

Actually, I think I could get a Saturn to (insert system with documented controller interface here) interface going, but the real problem is that it's not easy to find the connectors. That means that it would be necessary to wire the saturn controller to use a standard connector, though it could probably still be used with Saturn if the the Saturn connector was wired to a matching standard connector.

Ironically the best Neo sticks/pads are the Neo pads and sticks themselves, the only thing I can think that would be better is a custom made SNK stick, similar to MAS's version.

Unless you have some really weird tastes and accually want to use a capcom layout saturn pad on a neo game.

I've looked into the exact this exact thing myself and found you cannot use the the board but just the casing, buttons, etc.
You have four buttons, two buttons for one command..like yellow and green would be 'FIRE' and blue and red would represent ;JUMP' or something...If I remember correctly..

Ok, for you guys who own an mvs then it's a 30 minute job to convert ANY controller, just wire button to jamma pin.

For the aes guys, well, the aes pinout is freely available so it can;t be that hard.

If I had an aes then I'd be more help but I only own an mvs, sorry. I'm quite happy with my dc arcade sticks.

Just FYI: When I said (on GameSX.com that the NEO pads required +5v, I meant they NEEDED +5v, where the sticks can use +5v or GND (although, actually, the newer smaller stick needs +5 also).

The NEO arcade + home systems only output +5v on the common line, where most other consoles without a chip in the controller (MSX, atari, etc) use GND as a common.

Also, it's dead-easy to convert any pad or stick to work in a NEO, but unless you're into programming your own chips and making circuits, you'll have to sacrifice the exisiting functionality (ie it won't work on the console it was made for anymore) to do it.

I've got some prelim work done over here but I never got around to detailing the mod. If there's enough interest, maybe I'll get around to it.

Lawrence.
