i preordered mine. at the very worst it will be a solid testing station for carts. at best its gonna be a new corner stone in my rig where i don't need a million things plugged in at once.

The Gameboy support actually has me more interested than anything.
I'll have to see if the controllers are cheap plastic first. If they are easy to mod, then i'll prolly get one too.

The video wont be perfect enough for purists, but HDMI is pretty sexy. I can take my classics out of the "basement" and put them back in the home theatre.

Is Hyperkin ever going to announce a proper release date? I know the page on Amazon is a placeholder with the Halloween release date. As I said before, I really like the idea they have but I'm going to wait and hear the reviews from folks that buy it. I'm always leery on clone systems, but I do love that I can have multiple systems in one. I might even hack the back of my Power Converter to see if it can play Master System games too.

Sweet. Now I don't have to hack the back bit of my Power Converter to use it on this. I had heard that it worked on their other systems but you really had to take off much of the back in order for it to fit. I think they said it wasn't compatible with the 32X though.



They've been posting videos of the games running on the system, that's the PAL version of Mario 3 with some shaders. Looks too smooth to me so I'll shut them off. The video says the audio enhancements are on, so while most of the sound effects sound right the bass in the music is really loud. It's not as jarring as some of the other clone systems I've played so hopefully it'll be much better since they've been listening to customer feedback.

Yeah, they're not all even thickness. You can see the problem more clearly in the Aladdin video as they turn on the scanlines without the filtering:

A guy at a nearby independent video game store got me a little hyped on this for a minute... It looks kinda neat on paper, but that was before the Neo Geo X. I'm really not up for buying something too good to be true.

-There's the original hardware to play on the CRT TV the way it was meant to be, and also the Wii VC
-There's Wii U Virtual Console and PSN releases for emulation on the HD TV
-I could always use my PC/hook up my PC to the TV for that too... & I have my Games For Windows SFIV pad and PS2 to USB adapter too

I don't see that as being something worthwhile. If (and I say if) the HD TV actually looks good, then people who already have the carts would be good for this system. I don't think the drive is great enough for people to rebuy digital versions of games they already have. Even myself, I don't NEED a retron because I can play all the games already on CRT. But if it looks good on an HD TV then it will be worth the purchase. Also considering I am out of ports on my switch box for my CRT.

I only said that because to me, the draw for this type of machine is the HDMI output and convenience of one device being able to play games from different platforms. I rebuy digital versions of classic games all the time, to have them available to play in different rooms, or on handhelds. That's actually why I was originally interested in the NeoGeo X too. Too bad it turned out to be below expectations. I don't know... maybe I spend too much on games or maybe I'm lazy haha.
