Any and all suggestions pls. A hard way to do it, an easy way, a lazy way, anything at this point juz fer me to get this board into "TEST" so I can change some settings for the SS 64 games I have.

Thx a million in advance for helping a brothuh out... PEACE.

Hiya Evasyar, I have ur answers

Sadly, the only way to access test mode is to rig up a test switch from ur jamma harness. I think its off either the 15 or 26 pin. Just connect any button to that pin, and voila.

If you have access to a cab you can always tote your Hyper pcb there, hook it up and make the adjustments.

Hope it helps.

Hola Gamefan - hhehhhehh, yeah i do and its your lucky day i have one more brand spanking new hyper neo geo 64 motherboard available so if you want it PM me and we'll discuss, OK, coz this motherboard is the recent JPN version b4 SNK closed doors and fully-JAMMA already w/o the need of special wiring harness for sound and stuff. I had two and I'm currently using one of them and I can hook it up to MAS Supernova juz fine juz straight in JAMMA harness and power up, hheheheh..... anyways like i said PM me and we'll discuss, OK??? PEACE!!!

hey lee(garg7) @@ ^__^ @@

when examining this JAMMA harness the one that plugs onto a PCB EDGE connector, looking on it head on right smack in front of me i see a what looks like a solder gab at pin # 7 or H, i count 8 down from it so that's pin # 15 or S, pin # 15 the "parts" side and pin S the "solder" side so kewl.

a JAMMA pinout chart link

1) first question is looking at this JAMMA plug facing on it which is "solder" side and which is "parts" side??? is the one on the left the "solder" side or the one on the right???

3) i'm supposed to solder the wire to pin # 15 but according to JAMMA pinout diagram pin # 15 is on "parts" side so am i supposed to solder on the "parts" side pin # 15 to a "test switch" then??? how does this work???

4) am i supposed to wire both (GND) pin # 1 "parts" side and pin # 15 (TEST) to a button/switch then mount this somewhere on the unit??? is this how it works??

hey garg appreciate the walk-thru thus far...

I bought a switch that has a wire going to 1 and a wire going to 15. I figure you could just get a wire long enough to touch both sides, and just solder it to 15, and touch it to 1 whenever you want to enter test mode, but it seems even shabbier than my initial method.

Of course you are soldering to the pins on the top of the board, not the bottom...

uhhhh where did you get the switch from??? so do you happen to know what is "solder" side and which one is "parts" side of the JAMMA harness plug???

I don't what side they're talking about. Here's what I know:
I got the switch from radio shack (I hate them, but they sell some things I can't elsewhere so easily). It's a tiny little pushbutton switch.

then with regard to soldering, the "contacts" I guess you could call them (I'm not technically minded) that plug into the jamma harness or supergun have pins on two sides - top and bottom. If you look close, the pins are labeled 1,2,3,4... on the top. I think the bottom is like A,b,c,d... To apply the test switch, I soldered wires to pin 1 and pin 15, on the top. I guess without a picture, that's the best I can do.

Hey all you neo geeks. This is evasyar's woman. What is it about this game hobby that causes my other half to be so obsessive. I gotta compete with these darn games all of the time, and he spends so much darn money on it. I'm bringin' home the bacon and he is spending.

Best way to compete is to learn how to play the games and start beating him at them. I wish my girlfriend played video games, but she really hates them, especially the neogeo.

hey evilwasabi -- hhehehhhhehh ^__^ please excuse the girlfriend, she's venting, hhehehhh...

do you have a MAS supernova??? the JAMMA contact for i didn't see any labels of 1,2,3,4,5 or A,B,C,D,E on there and the darn thing curves inside going to the right so i couldn't tell which is the top tier or the bottom tier.. sorry man still am trying to identify which tier of pins is the SOLDERr side or the PARTS side according to the JAMMA diagram i have for link. i'm not bad in soldering at all but would like to be sure i'm soldering to pin#1 (GND) and pin # 15 (TEST/SERVICE).. anyways you're quite the helpful guy this time round, thanks...

Evasyar: I'll try and help ya best I can:

First off, if you have an MAS Nova, all you need to do is run a wire from pin 15 (on TOP when harness is connected to board, not the bottom row) to a button on an MAS controller. The MAS Nova comes with the ability to hook up extra buttons, and this extension is a separate little white box and wires running out of the Nova unit. Simply look at the instructions to find out which pins correspond to the extra button of choice and run a wire from that pin to the #15 pin on your harness.

Then, all you do is hit that button while the board is running. I did this for a long time, and I didnt even solder the wire. Simple contact on both ends will do it, but you may have to jiggle a few times to make sure you have contact.

If u dont have a MAS Nova:

I've never done this before, but a switch/button with 1 wire to ground and 1 to 15 should do the trick.

Just remember, its pin 15 on the TOP row when the harness is connected to the board ('Parts' I guess on that chart u linked to, though I could be wrong). I'm SURE pin 15 is test switch in jamma land

One other thing, a wire running from any Neo stick button pinout on the controller connector (diagrams can be found at http://www.undertheneogeomoon.com) to pin 15 SHOULD get the test menu up too, though I've never done this.

I have to say, I'm loving my Sigma Nova, as the harness HAS a test switch built in, and this Nova lets me use my Home Neo sticks standard for all the Hyper games

Hope this helps
