Due to it being practically stationary for two days, there's been many areas around here that suffered worse with this storm than they had for Katrina. I have no idea what the news coverage of the storm is like around the country (hell I don't even know what it's like around here, the power's out), but lots of widespread flooding. I actually live about 30 miles North of New Orleans across Lake Pontchartrain and, although I was evacuated for a few weeks for Katrina, it's definitely worse in spots now than it was seven years ago.

Anyway, I know there are a few members in the area - decepticon in New Orleans and Spinmaster in Gulfport - and I hope you guys are safe. Please post ASAP!

I took a lot of footage of the storm while I was in Miami last weekend and shitty doesn't even begin to describe it. I felt like it was the second half of Final Fantasy VI where Terra wakes up on the island and Cid is dying and you need to feed him bad fish to end his struggle.

That's good to hear. The storm is pretty much done with, but things are still nuts. The next parish over, where many in my neck of the woods evacuated, issued an evacuation itself because a dam is facing "imminent failure".

Other than that, and the terrible floodwaters that remain in places, things are back to normal. Lots of stores, gas stations, and restaurants are back operating. Most importantly, my power came back on. That was a rough... day and a half.

I was in Miami for a week and went swimming during the hurricane. I was in Ft. Lauderdale in Bayview Dr. right on the water to be exact. Too bad, we could have done something.

Aside from that, I feel bad for the folks where the hurricane stayed, seems flooding is thye main problem there. Actually I was planning to head to Universal over at Orlando but 95 was flooded and had like 12 accidents that day.

I live in Hattiesburg which is somewhat close to the coast, but visited my parents north in Meridian while it happened. We only had light rain 2 nights ago and a tornado alert yesterday afternoon. No power outage, wind damage or flooding. Hattiesburg caught a lot of rain and wind with a power outage and some flooding in areas... but not all that bad. This was like hurricane Ivan a while back if anything.
