I live a bit north of Tucson in a place called the Catalina foothills. It’s basically on the edge of big mountains and a huge wildfire was started a few days ago from lightening.

My neighbors two streets over are being forced to evacuate and my block is being told to be ready to leave any minute. I’ve packed my better Neo Geo aes games and my childhood snes and snes collection and my better genesis games. but I’m mighty nervous I’m leaving behind stuff id rather not loose.

My mail is being held at the post office as I have a few games on the way. Two nights ago the fire was small but last night it tripled in size really fast. It’s super smoky outside so my family is staying indoors and we are packed and ready to go.

Tonight I’ll get some pics as the mountain fires are very visible at night. Here is some pictures of what I’m leaving behind and may be lost. ( sorry for the pics being sideways I’ve never figured out how to rotate them via the upload page)

Thanks man! I’m debating packing up my Turbografx and pce collection while I wait as it doesn’t take up much space. My girl friend is already pissed I’m taking this many games with me lol. This is normally a very safe place to live as we don’t get hurricanes, tornadoes, or earthquakes and crime is non existent compared to 10 miles south of us which has a bad crime problem.

I do think some people may try home envisions now that everyone is forced to be gone. I will be going to Tempe to stay with family if we are forced to go.

Very kind of you to say! I‘m pretty nervous and would very much like to have a few beers but I’ve got to be ready to drive around 90 miles to Tempe at a moments notice so I’ve got to stay sober. I’m playing shoot em ups on Turbografx to take my mind off of it.

On the bright side, it's a good thing the pics are sideways so we can read the labels.

Stay safe bro

As a person who has a career in water treatment, and actually applied and obtained a top license in AZ a few years ago when I was considering moving there, there is nothing safe about where you live.
Be safe, I hope your shit doesn't burn up.

Tomorrow it's suppose to not only be hotter but the winds are going to pick up as well. All of Arizona is a tinderbox right now with no relief in the near future. As a matter of fact, when we had a weak storm front move through the state last week, many of the fires were caused by lightning. Hopefully everything works out for you and like 2D_Master indicated, I didn't know you lived in Tucson either and you may have to go to Tempe...my stomping grounds ;)

Stay safe :buttrock:

That’s cool you also live in Tucson. Perhaps we could go looking around town for games sometime. I’ve had luck now and then at the two swaps in town and pawn shops now and again. I appreciate your concern as well thanks!

Arcademan- I’m surprised there are so many members from Arizona on here! I know what you mean about AZ being a tinderbox at the moment, monsoon season can’t come soon enough. I actually lived in Tempe for many years. My family’s house is right by the research park on McClintock and Elliot.

I missed your post lonestar that’s a good way to look at it. I’m very proud of my turbo and pce collection. I actually got a 60 or so game lot from a IT guy who was in his 60’s and had terminal cancer. It’s special I feel like the curator of another mans collection. He only wanted $800 a year ago but gave him a $1,000 when he told me the circumstances.

Max- it’s all good though I kinda like the danger of the desert. 6 months ago a Baby diamondback rattlesnake was under my door jam curled up. Kinda a big surprise when I saw the little guy,

The good news is the fire looks way less intense tonight. Last night it looked like lava flowing towards us very close tonight it barley looks bad at all.

From what I saw on the news a moment ago, the officials cancelled the evacuation orders and are letting people go back to their homes. That's great news.
