Yup, though slightly above it. I can take some pics if you want to get an idea of how it's ran.
Thanks for confirming. I figured we'd have to do something like this. I will avoid anyone who tries to convince us to run it along the roof.

Our laundry room has a 220v outlet and is next to the garage, but I don't think we have an option to splice into that without impacting our ability to use the dryer.

We went full electric because our last house had solar panels already installed, and it was much cheaper when gas prices were through the roof. I will be the first to admit that going electric has a learning curve, but we like our cars and the savings add up. Would I go electric again after this? maybe, but not for the environment so much as i dont feel like paying for gas, but im also not wedded to the idea.

@Fygee Finally got my EV charger installed. It was $2400. I wanted to get another quote, but I gave my wife the final call and she wanted this company. They got it scheduled fast, and they didn't run anything outside. They determined that they could run a wire all the way through my finished basement ceiling from the electrical box to the utility room on the opposite side. They spent like an hour poking around making noise trying to run it through (even though I warned them there's brittle CPVC pipe in there), and somehow poking a small hole through the drywall by accident in the process. But overall they did a clean job otherwise, I'm glad there's no conduit on the outside of the house or any walls, and it's really nice having 240V charging now.

Nice! Pretty expensive for an install, but at least it's done and you can enjoy laughing at gas stations as you drive past them. Enjoy!

Yeah, I know. I told them I was expecting more like $1200, and they took 10% off. I just had a feeling the next place wasn't really going to be cheaper and was being lazy.

The guy giving the quote said that if I'd needed a new breaker panel it would have been at least $6,000.

that's actually not that bad. I think my friend has been getting quoted in the 3 to almost 5k range for EV charging.

I had to shop around a fair bit. My initial quotes were $2k-$3k due to the breaker panel being on the wrong side of the house and they had all kinds of crazy ideas about how to run the lines, compared to the $900 I ended up paying to just run the conduit under the lip of the house to the garage which made the most sense anyways.
