I sure am. I don't like that they tried to use the same resolution as a regular Neo-Geo game and just tried to fit it to the DS screen it makes the game look like crap. I used to love the Metal Slug games but now it's just getting to be way too old. It's the same stuff over and over there really is no inovation in the series. If I compare MS7 to Contra 4 on the DS hands down Contra 4 wins.

I haven't played MS7, but I loved Contra 4. I tell you this though; if MS7 is only half as good as Contra 4 is then there's still hope, 'cause COntra 4 is easily one of the greatest freaking games of all time.

Yes. Contra 4 is amazing. It still amazes me how pessimistic people were about it because Wayforward were developing it...Wayforward has done other good work.

I'm going to buy MS7 without expecting much...hopefully it will exceed my expectations.

Wayforward has some incredible talent, it's just a shame they have to do a bunch of licensed games because they can't afford to make their own unique IPs.

I think I was one of the few who actually really enjoyed Sigma Star Saga. It was a great idea that could have used a little more fleshing out.

I'd love to see them make a sequel on the DS.

Woah, slow down there. Contra (a true masterpiece) > Contra 3 > Super Contra > Contra 4. I enjoyed Contra 4 quite a bit, but two things kept it from being brilliant:
1) the "gap" between the screens
2) the game has no original ideas -- all of its ideas and designs were done better in previous Contra games.

IMO calling it one of the greatest games of all time is a bit much. It's more fun than -- I don't know -- Madden, or Crash Bandicoot, or something, but I can easily think of 100 games better than Contra 4 (a game that pales in comparison to, say, Metal Slug 1).

I really did like Contra 4 though.

And, on-topic, I really don't fucking care about the resolution of MS7. 4 was shit, 5 was pretty fun, 6 tried too hard for what little it accomplished, and I've preordered 7 expecting it to be a dissapointment. Yet, regardless of how 7 turns out, it will almost certainly still be more entertaining to me than most anything else that comes out this year -- and I have no doubts that it will be playable on the tiny DS screen.

Is all a matter of prefference. I for one think that even though C4 didn't bring anything new to the table, it still made what was already there better, you see I'm one of those guys that worships Neo Contra, but I know a lot of people don't get it.

Yeah there might be 100 games that could be better, Ninja 5.0 for example, but noetheless is way above hordes of thousands of crap games, hell! better yet is above many arcade titles that have been released recently, shit! who are we kidding the game is better than many aracde titles that came long ago.

Dude! If I say this game is one the greatest games of all time and it bothers you, you need to understand that my list is long. Fuck it man! Is the sheer excitement of it all! This particular contra was well designed, "the gap" which bothers me none given that I used to play a lot of Game & Watch when I was a kid so I think the whole game was designed fluidly.

You didn't even mentioned Hard Corps tsk...tsk...and still left a heavy burden unanswered NES or PCB? I know is hard, but both of them stand equally as far as I'm concerned. I dunno man, I think this is the right step into the evolution of Contra, "all of its ideas and designs were done better in previous Contra games" I wouldn't say better, I think the fact that there's no originality keeps the game in track, otherwise itwouldn't be Contra.

Shit! If you ask me I'll tell you Ninja Spirit is the greatest game of all time, but don't listen to me, just don't slow me down partner!

I think I'm going to have to agree with ElectricGrave here...the fact that Contra 4 was derivative is what made me enjoy it so much. Sure, it's not a revolution in game design...but I think it went beyond being just a homage. It contained just about everything that made previous Contra games awesome, and tweaked a few things at the same time. Overall, one of the best portable action games ever made. Possibly the best action platformer on the DS.

And I enjoyed it much more than Ninja 5-0.

True, I was a little skeptical of the game, but Sigma Star was not too bad. The whole mix of an RPG adventure game with a shoot em up was unique.

If they were to just tweak a few aspects of the game, a sequel could be A+ material. Definitely a unique attemp at an origial IP. The game itself looked fantastic.

Well that's cool, but Ninja 5.0 is so badass! Ninjas...thugs...hostages...Ninjas...thugs...Ninjas...man! sounds like an epic to me!

Don't get me wrong...Ninja 5-0 is great. I really enjoyed it, actually.

I just enjoyed Contra IV more.

I'm really pleased the portables are getting so many good exclusive action games.
I think Double Dragon Advance really turned my mindset around for portable action titles.

The game's alright, but came out on the wrong machine IMO. PSP would have been a much better choice, better screen for a MS game and the possibility to play it on a big screen.

Eh, I haven't played Slug 7, but they should've called it something else. (Metal Slug DS maybe?) Just seems like it shouldn't be in the sequential ranks of 1-3. With that said, I *do* actually look forward to playing it.

I picked it up today, I kind of feel like the familiarity of it is kind of comforting, really.

I like having everything the same as it's always been.

Liking it perfectly well so far, to tell the truth.

Metal Slug on all handheld has been a let down in terms yes, The gameplay is reptitive along with the gore level being turned down. Also I am getting so tired of the final enemy being a giant machine thingy.

They put this thing on the GBA and all you got was a stinking map that takes away the imagination:very_ang:

they can't afford to make their own unique

They need to do people do in Japan. Take out a loan and release the game in high numbers or walk up to a publisher and convince them the game will make good but they retain the rights to not get into another craze as with the Namco Namcot thing with Tales Of Phantasia.

Another problem with Wafoward is while the art style is nice they need to not mimic other art styles and keep it early 90's for gosh shakes. I mean I am getting sick of how western companies keeps trying to make Anime and they make some big eyed garabage that looks like been ten.

The between levels map? That had so little to do with actual gameplay that you'd have to be out of your mind to critique MS Advance on that point.

There's a logical explanation to all this DP; look at his custom rank... no wonder right? Seems like someone figured it out and helped the rest of us with a fair warning.

Seriously? Are none of you having any fun at all with this...?

Maybe I'm just lowering my standards too much or something for NEW METAL SLUG, but I've played it a bunch so far and I'm quite enjoying it.
