Just got this game from trade and I popped it in the ol' Duo...

God damn...

This is from the same people that made Lords of Thunder, right?

Are they like shooter gods or something? Have they made any other games? If they have, something tells me they'd be worth checking out...

This kinda reminds me of a side-scrolling Blazing Lazers. Yeah, I think that's a good comparison.

Anybody else here played this gem of a shooter?

By the way, I got this in a trade from a person who's a member here, user Greywolf. I dunno if you're going to read this, but if you do, thanks a bunch for this trade! I feel bad for making you send first! I'm gonna drop you an email in a sec in case you don't read this... The Misfits were great in case you were wondering

Well, yeah... Pretty hard to beat the king.

I've never played Sapphire, but I heard it wasn;t worth what people are paying for it...

Didn't the same people that made M.U.S.H.A make Sapphire? I'm sure Sapphire couldn't be that much better than it...

Gate of Thunder & Lord of Thunder were developed by Red or Riot (I have to go home and check).

When I played Gate of Thunder the first time, I was shock because I've never thought Duo can be so powerful!

Compile is the company that made MUSHA.
Their first game (or you can call it pre-MUSHA) was Blazing Lazer on TG-16/PC Engine. They also made Spriggan 1&2 on PC Engine, Space Mega Force on SNES and Robo Aleste on Sega CD. Not sure who made Game Gear version of GG Aleste because I dont' have that game. Unfortunately Compile starts making Puyo Puyo games lately.......

Gate of Thunder was ok, but it had the same problem most other space-shooters had (and still have). A lot of the enemies look like power tools or car engine parts. It really isn't that scary to fight a big floating electric sander.

Lords of Thunder had great enemies and even better fake guitar. They really synth-went synth-crazy with that synth-guitar in Lords of Thunder. Awesome game. I'll take it over Gate of Thunder and Bonk any day.

Gate of Thunder and Winds (lords) of Thunder is made by RED. The also have a game for Super Famicom/SNES called Hagane. Very cool, but not as wonderful as thier shooters.

Saphire. Good game, and the Duo does some things with it that I never tought possible. Well worth the money in my opinion, but after all, I love shooters.

The Aleste series started on the MSX... I believe in the 80's... compile made those too. There were three of them, Aleste, Aleste 2 and Aleste Gaiden. Aleste 2 was the best, the Gaiden, then the first one. Hey Chainsawyak!!! There's a series I can say I am glad they went further than two deep in!!!
